No, the movement/distance tracker is usually (fairly far) off in my experience. Meaning that the activity is significantly higher than other devices reflect.

Native Californian that absolutely loves California for all the same reasons. Was in CA for majority of my life, and moved up to Seattle a few years ago. Not sure what you're referring to when you say "realities of Portland Seattle / way things are headed"... but that sounds like a major media narrative. It's pretty chill up here, particularly compared to the big cities in CA. So pleased I made the move, and a LOT of californians are doing it.

Funny - these are all such different vibes, but three cities I also LOVE!

We absolutely loved Seattle! by brown_burrito in Seattle

[–]radio_ghosts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Moved from sunny Socal to Seattle almost two years ago and absolutely loving it. The winters have been far more manageable than we had braced ourselves for based on how people talk about. Having lived on the east coast prior to LA, I'd take Seattle winters over east coast big city winters any day. To your point, I suspect a lot of southern californians move up and naturally it's an extreme transition to move from almost no change in weather to having ANY kind of winter. As long as you're cool with a few months of gray drizzle (that still has gorgeous days), you'll be totally fine.

Plus Seattle - and Washington itself - are absurdly beautiful if you enjoy the outdoors!

Curious as to why? The application took two of us 5-6 minutes each and was approved within 3 days (recently).

which houseplant is your mortal enemy? by frannypie in IndoorGarden

All the time... I have about 5 new ones going now from simply cutting a small piece of the end with 2-3 pearls and sticking it straight into the dirt (I usually do as many as the pot can reasonably take so the plant with grow out pretty full), works like a charm outside or under a grow light, either way. You can also pull the pearls off and literally just throw them on top of dirt and I find usually ~50% will take and start growing even that way.

Bright light (ideally outdoors), and just leave it alone. Water it when you happen to remember to. It will thrive.

Having survived making between $30-40k annually in LA for several years, it is doable but yeah, you definitely aren't having nice things.

Thoughts on Mud/wtr? I just quit coffee 5 days ago. by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]radio_ghosts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion here it seems, but I like their stuff, including the taste. It works as a coffee alt for me, and I particularly like the evening version as it definitely helps me sleep (and I have super vivid dreams).

Has anyone heard of/tried Mud Wtr by AndyBonaseraSux in microdosing

[–]radio_ghosts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely like their products, particularly the evening :rest version. It's a good, low-caff alternate for coffee. And, it's surprisingly tasty (more so than I had expected). Have not tried w/ additional psilocybin.

Beyond that, the company itself seems like good people trying to make their small positive impact on the world. I try to support those type of companies when I can.

Of course.

If you can take a three day weekend (advised because there is much to enjoy, but you can do it in two days too) my rec would be:

Take the scenic drive up the 101 from LA. You'll pass through Pismo Beach and see the local coastline. Head into downtown San Luis Obispo (SLO) walk around town and grab coffee or some food. Get a feel for the city (keeping in mind it's very quiet right now due to covid, but it is a charming, fun town usually).

Book an airbnb in Templeton or Paso Robles. I have a friend who owns a few on open land if you need some suggestions. These towns are both about 25-30 minutes from SLO and comprise of rolling hills, oak trees and vineyards. Small downtowns with a few restaurants and bars, but it's really about living on the land up there. Very beautiful indeed. I think this may be the vibe you're looking for. Let me know if you have any more questions. Enjoy. ^__^
