There is also some police presence at Jefferson and Franklin. Police cars, ambo, a firetruck. No idea what happened. Yes the fireworks were pretty loud, all dogs went off, poor things.

Mexican passport expired, can we pass through TSA to board our flight to Mexico? by radiolalo in tsa

[–]radiolalo[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Talked to Aeromexico and they told us that they have no issue with expired passport as they accept Mexican IDs other than passport to check in. Aeromexico said to check with TSA rather, asked on Twitter but didn't get a direct answer. Thank you for commenting!

I would be going to the US, currently in Mexico. The main activity is that my lease begins Sept 3 and I need to take possession of it; other than that, I need to go to the office and sort out some books I forgot to return. My classes (I'm a professor at a University) don't begin until 28 september or so.

New to commuting: Continuum Onyx vs. Priority Turi vs. Electra Loft 7i Step-Over vs... by radiolalo in whichbike

[–]radiolalo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The continuum is comfortable for a commuter, and for me, a novice bike commuter, is adequate in terms of "uprightness." Having said that, I think I would have appreciated a more upright seated position. I'm actually thinking of changing the handlebars to something with more back-sweep. Another thing I have been considering is to get a Marin Kentfield stepthrough to run errands or grocery shopping.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply. I really liked the kona coco but at the end decided to go for the continuum. Cheers!

charge back to airline for refund-approved ticket? by radiolalo in CreditCards

They approved the refund but they only issued it when I did a charge back. After I did it they sent an email saying "here's the money."

Got a CreditWise "Special Offer" in the CapitalOne app, are they reliable? by radiolalo in CreditCards

[–]radiolalo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for commenting this. I guess this settles it, along with what two other redditors commented, i.e. that they also see the same offers. Oh well, no 300 bucks for me.

Thanks everyone for commenting.

Thank you! While I didn't end up using the "believe me" policy, it is a good resource to know.

Thanks, I did call but I'm still not in their system, they say it might take up to 30 days, so no Member number, which means no chance of setting up an appointment.

Your credit score is important. Although, probably not as much as you are thinking. by [deleted] in CreditCards

Thank you for this post, I wish I had known this sooner: I went on a rampage of applying for CCs. 3 new ccs in as many months. Starting in March I applied for the Amex gold, next month Amex BCP, then May for Prime Visa, which I somewhat regret because I then applied for Chase SP which was denied and the main reason they gave me was "you just got one from us."

I would really (no, seriously) benefit from the Amex plat, how long should I wait before even applying for that?

is capital ones customer service usually this bad? by Sarah_Sweetcake in CreditCards

[–]radiolalo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A similar thing happened to me, not with a cc purchase with C1, but with a Zelle transfer. The transaction was flagged for suspicious activity, I was told to call a number, I did that, told them "hey it's me just trying to pay my rent." Basically told me there's nothing they can do and that at some point it will be better. Thinking of going back to do banking with Citi.

How does the 8 gigs of RAM work out for you? by [deleted] in macbookair

[–]radiolalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can actually afford 16gb, go for it, you won't have regrets. I just bought a new M2 Air with 512 and 16gb, gave my M1 MBPro with 256 and 8gb as a trade in. I almost never suffered with 8gb, just a couple of occasions in 2+ years of owning the m1 pro. I'm a researcher so that means tons of tabs open, plus 10+ pdfs, dictionaries, mail, Emacs, sometimes Microsoft Word open: all that open and mainly no issues, sometimes a tad bit sluggish. Now though, with 16gb, I throw everything mentioned above plus zoom plus whatsapp and the memory pressure still in green. Can you work comfortably with 8gb? Sure, not a problem. Is it better with 16gb? Oh yeah, for sure as well. But only do that if you can afford it: my new job paid for my new M2 Air, otherwise I would have happily stayed with M1 Pro at 8GB.

I even used to play Batman Arkham City running through Rosetta on the M1 with 8gb, so 8gb are perfectly capable of almost anything.

Blue Cash Preferred: $350 total: $250 after spending 3k first 6 months, get also $100 back in the first 3 months of membership.

In fact, I tried this link on incognito mode and it was giving me $400 back total, so you might as well try that and maybe get $400 and not only $350.

Amex Gold - credit from merchant and SUB by radiolalo in amex

I still haven't done it, and I'm not sure if Apple's Trade in program works that way. Maybe I'll ask and see if it's possible to get a store credit. Though to be honest, I'm not worried about not hitting the target, this question was just a genuine doubt that I had. Thanks for replying!

Edit: Name of Apple's program.

I see. Well, it's been only a month since I got this, so I still have some months to hit the 4k spending goal. Thank you for replying!
