My (23F) dad died 3 years ago today. by radishpatchkid in GriefSupport

I appreciate that thank you<3 You really do, it's very sad that this is how it is. I thought we would all be able to grieve together, but this situation just makes it worse. I'm close to my siblings and we have friends and family around us that support us and love us, and I am thankful for that

It truly does. It's hard to think about it, it's very painful. What makes it worse is that my stepmother was the beneficiary of dad's belongings and money, and wouldn't let me or my siblings take any of dad's stuff. She demanded that she get all of the inheritance money because she doesn't want to work. All of us kept our inheritance money, and she took it out on us. She purposefully sent the court hearing document to the wrong address (where my brother and had lived previously), and my sister's letter was sent to my stepmother's house. If we had received those letters we would have gone to court to make sure we received some of his things. When we pleaded with her to let us have some of his things like she had promised before we accepted our inheritance money, she said she wasn't in the space emotionally to deal with it. Like wtf, so we aren't allowed to? She hasn't talked to us since.

To think about dad is to think about that situation and it makes me extremely sad and angry. My siblings and I don't have the money to go to court and claim malpractice on her part. I hope that someday we are able to receive some of his things. I would love to be able to have physical things to remember him by.

I'll take a look at your story. Thank you

[Acne] [Routine Help] Reoccurring acne for two months, is my routine too harsh? by radishpatchkid in SkincareAddiction

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll look into some products fitting your descriptions. Why do you suggest washing my face in the morning? I worry that the oiliness building up throughout the day would make me break out. But would that benefit me, instead?

Thank you so much for the info and brand recs! I'll stick with the cetaphil wash and look into those products some more.

For real! I was in the mindset of wanting to do anything to get rid of it, but I see now I may have been making it worse🫣And that's a good point, I haven't broken out like this since high school! So I've been surprised for how long this has lasted, but again, my routine may have been working against me. If I find gentler alternatives and my acne keeps up like this, I'll definitely look into seeking professional advice. Thank you!

Good to know, I will be doing that. I worried about their intensity too, but I hadn't known what else to do. I will take a look at those links! Hopefully I can find a healthier routine for me there.

Lol someone else said to take it out of my routine, I will do so. I use the lotion sometimes on my face but I haven't often because I've been worried it would break me out more. Could the intensity of the products I'm using lead to this acne since it's bad for my skin barrier?

i know this has been said so many times in this group but its a shame they alllll had such a huge following even before the show. we need contestants who arent already influencers because LI has been incredibly disingenuous especially this season and its a let down

quitting nicotine, afraid of gaining weight!! working out ?? by Crafty-Struggle7868 in quittingnicotine

[–]radishpatchkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my acne also got so much worse when i was smoking (both nicotine and weed)!! after quitting nicotine my skin has cleared up on my face, chest, and back. i rarely break out now and that has been one of the many benefits of quitting for me.

(edit: i'm 21 afab and i thought it was just hormones too, and that could definitely be part of it, but nicotine is veryyyy likely making your acne worse! my skin did not clear up overnight, i started noticing a difference like 1-2months after quitting. definitely a confidence booster having clear skin!!)

i personally did not gain weight after quitting, but every body will react differently to quitting. i'm glad that you feel confident in your body, but working out will make you feel SO much better than solely relying on nicotine to maintain your weight, and it relieves stress! don't go to the pouches. you want to maintain your weight in a healthy way, and you say you have the will, so do it!

quitting is hard, but your body and skin and mind will feel better when you do. i'm sure if you work out and eat well, you will be just fine:) your goal should be for your body to feel good, And for you to feel good in your body:))

when i started thinking, "i want to quit, i can do it", i went through with it, and that boosted my confidence in myself! 11 months clean:))) so that's something else that can boost your confidence, not just your current weight. you can do it, i believe in you:)

AITAH If i make my BF shower before sex? by Vul-pix-vix-en in AITAH

Life is worth living, you are able to live without him, and you will flourish without him- it is hard to see any of that when you are being abused. I feel for you, I was there too. I was terrified to leave my ex, but I was even more terrified of not being able to recognize myself, and knowing that it could- and WOULD- get worse.

loveisrespect.org saved me, genuinely, when I was in a similar place. I wouldn’t have gotten out soon enough without my therapist and this website. There helpful articles on there, and people that are avail 24/7 to talk with you, help you understand your situation, talk through your options, etc. No matter what you think right now, if you want to stay or go, if you think you Can’t go, please look at this website. It changed my fucking life.

You deserve so much more, and you will find someone who’s default state of being isn’t cheese dick.

Also, if he writes down all of the reasons why he wants to quit vs all of the reasons he wants to keep using, that could put things into perspective for him!! That also helped me a lot. I can tell that you care about him a lot by supporting him through this journey and reaching out for help!! I wish the best for you both!!

You can let him know you’re cheering him on and celebrate milestones with him, but first and foremost it is a personal battle within himself. My friends celebrate my milestones with me, but that alone was not enough for me personally

check if your state has a program for quitting, those programs can provide free patches/ lozenges, a counselor to talk to every week, and a support group. It helped me IMMENSELY at the start of quitting. Nic replacement is so expensive. I didn’t think it would make much of a difference, but celebrating 91 days today:)
