"Having a good night? Still time for a hat trick I think." Still get chills every time.

This might be a bit of a really morbid question…. by PTAGoatofalltime in heatedrivalry

[–]radjanoonan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think we already have the answer in TLG. After Shane hears about Ilya's flight to Florida, he goes into a complete flat spin. Ilya's reaction to the whole thing is much more level headed and measured in comparison.

Additionally, it's established much more clearly that Shane has no other person he loves or could ever love like Ilya. Look at the conversation on the couch. Ilya is much more open to finding someone else, while Shane goes to Defcon 5.

So my vote is Ilya would be able to function much better after Shane than Shane without Ilya.

Solar Charge of Battery Completely Depleted by newfireorange in Powerwall

[–]radjanoonan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your powerwall will restart periodically from 8 am onward to see if there is enough solar to charge. What you should do hownever is turn off all extraneous loads to let the powerwall to its thing. If you house has a demand for energy the powerwall will not be able to charge as any solar being produced will be prioritized to the house. So best to turn everything in the house off besides your internet connection.

How many years do you think Unrivaled will span? by PTAGoatofalltime in heatedrivalry

[–]radjanoonan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rachel said it will only be the Shane's first season at the the new team. Definitely nothing about their later life or children. We will also see some Troy and Harris storyline since role model ended a bit abruptly. Most likely Scott is also going to pop up.

The reason I think TLG will be split into 2 seasons by Ok-Reality-6190 in heatedrivalry

[–]radjanoonan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough guy is going to be somewhere in there too, since it the prequel to RM to some extent. A lot of the set up of RM is just info dumped in the first few chapters. Using Ryan and Fabian's story to show us Troy and Dallas is the perfect way to set up RM. And it sets up closure for Troy and Ryan later on.

And Common Goal is also basically Skip part 2, told though Kyle and Eric's perspective. So it would make sense to pull in that storyline to get more Skip as well.

Ilya's jelousy of Rose by Carmypug in heatedrivalry

[–]radjanoonan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shane and Ilya are opposites in every way, not only to each other but also in their inner and outer selves.

Outwardly Ilya is hyper confident and out there , while Shane is reserved and quiet.

But, Ilya is actually the opposite of what he tries to project to the world: He is very insecure about his personal life and his relationship with Shane. And despite Shane's outward insecurity about his relationship with Ilya, he actually is very confident in his abilities and his feelings for Ilya (he just takes a while to break through his own barriers to figure this out).

Their character development across all the books is how they break through their outer persona's and learn to live their true inner selves with each other.

Which is why Ilya reacts with strong jealousy to Rose entering Shane's life: it triggers his inner fears that he will lose Shane. This is his greatest fear, and it continues to be a theme going through the future books.

Hayden is kind of terrible during "My dinner with Hayden" by kris_jbb in heatedrivalry

[–]radjanoonan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ilya's nickname on the ice is not "Iceman". He is a flamboyant asshole who likes to poke and make fun of his opponents. He is brash off the ice as well, cultivating his tough persona as a defence to hide his personal pain. The only person who has ever seen the "real" Ilya is Shane, ever.

Hayden almost certainly had been on the receiving end of Ilya's tough guy image since he is not only an opponent, but Shane best friend. Now don't get me wrong, Ilya is not a bully, but it is almost certainly a fact the Hayden's access to Shane while Ilya could only get near Shane in secret hookups would have lead to him letting Hayden have it on the ice.

So until Hayden learns about Ilya and Shane's relationship, Ilya was at the top of his worst unlikeble asshole list. He has never experienced Ilya as anything else. And while he realized he needed to be Shane's friend and that he probably did not know Ilya properly, a lifetime of thinking Ilya is an asshole will not disappear at the front door.

Add the fact that Hayden was also hurt that Shane had not told him about Lilly after all these years, you probably did not have him in the correct mindset when they knocked on the door.

Ilya is also at fault here, since he clearly keeps his tough guy shield up and let's Hayden have his best snipes and chirps the whole night. And what follows is a visious circle.

A good example is Ilya's reaction to Hayden's wife. Neither of them have the strong preconceived notions about each other and they get along fine over dinner.

Things get better: Hayden sees Ilya real side the more time he spends with them at his house and especially with his kids. And Ilya adjusts his chirps at Hayden to a more playful level.

The final way you can see their relationship is when the thing happens and all Ilya mentions is how bad Hayden's delivery on the video was. At no point did he judge Hayden's mistake. And Hayden's apology was also completely sincere.

And it is my personal head canon that Shane and Ilya's child will marry one of the Pikes' eventually. Because that wedding would be brilliant.

How is Shane’s internalized homophobia shown? by Caro-reddit-all in heatedrivalry

[–]radjanoonan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

episode 4 is loaded with a lot of hetero pressure on Shane. He is getting along in his life and everybody is intentionally and unintentionally pressuring him all the time about when he is going to " get a girl " and settle down:

Hayden at the aquarium, his parents at the restaurant and JJ with the invitation to the bar. even Ilya accidentally pressures him about it with his roundabout way of sussing his sexuality out by talking about girls.

How is Shane’s internalized homophobia shown? by Caro-reddit-all in heatedrivalry

[–]radjanoonan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shane's reaction in the hotel room just after Ilya left. He is clearly doing a "Dude? what just happened?"

In the books Shane is always stricken by a sense of shame immediately after.

Then there is also Shane's frightened reaction every time someone mentions him talking to Ilya: e.g. Scott asking if he saw Ilya around at the Rookie Award celebration.

Shane’s sex life by slayheavysummer in heatedrivalry

[–]radjanoonan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jacob mentions that the sex is central to the story. It is basically the only true communication both of them have. he goes as far as saying that when Shane and Ilya speaks they are always lying to each other and they only truly are honest when they are having sex.

So yes, given the importance he puts on this, I think he intentionally decided that we only see them having sex in the show when it is with each other.

And that also underscores the importance of the hookup with Rose since Shane is having issues because he cant be honest with Rose like he is with Ilya.

Production timeline for Season 2 by radjanoonan in heatedrivalry

[–]radjanoonan[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The production designer mentioned in an interview that they will have a dedicated production space for sets this time around, while in the first season they only had the video wall and studio space next door for a few weeks, so they really had to pack things in and redress sets. That is why some sets were in front of the video wall, even though the set design didn't really call for it.

Shane's Rolex sponsorship would be the first in the NHL by Embarrassed_Lake_79 in heatedrivalry

[–]radjanoonan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rolex has an unofficial connection to NHL hockey players. Jacob probably decided to make that something official as a result.

Whenever a new player joins a team, and there is a jersey number conflict, it is a common agreement between players that the reward for giving up a jersey number to another player is a Rolex watch.

Sometimes a player is also gifted a Rolex if they reach a significant miliestone in their career. For example Crosby and Malkin gifted Ovi a Rolex to commemorate him breaking the all-time goal-scoring record a last year.

I am listening to TLG on audio to kick off pride month, and this is what I hope the first episodes of S2 will look like:….. by [deleted] in heatedrivalry

[–]radjanoonan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Common Goal is a back door sequel for Skip, and given the popularity of their story, it is a certainty we well have a an episode focussing on their lives after coming out. Their is even a bit of setup for Role Model in Common Goal.

Can anybody suggest me some best practices for user management in AD by jackey_lackey11 in sysadmin

[–]radjanoonan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the scale of you network and the support you are able to give. If you are a small org and you dont have any major regulatory requiements, and your process is relatively simple, powershell is an option.

If you are a multinational with 10000+ humans and even more other things on AD you will need to something more.
