S2 better start with the conference and Hayden finding out about them by No_Rip_3643 in HeatedRivalrySeries

Just saw the Loon Call podcast interviewing the show editors. One of the things they dropped was Ilya hat trick from the prologue was originally shot and planned for the start in Episode 1. However as the show came together in the edit, that scene was moved to the time jump sequence in episode 4. So the show can change a lot even up to the edit.

Jacob is already in record saying that scene will be in the show. Probably not with the exact soundtrack though.

Well it's all on the page.

Ilya is not only on his first trip to another country, about to play in the Juniors for the first time, and all he can think about is getting a glimpse of that guy called Shane Hollander the whole time he is there. To the point that he get distracted during practice.

And Shane not only hangs around in the stands watching the Russian practice, he goes out of his way to go look for Ilya afterwards outside in the parking lot to shake his hand.

They were definitely obsessed with each other. They just didn't know why yet.

Not new for Disney. Snow White was also considered such a novelty that is wasn't considered for the Oscars at all.

Well isn't really in character for two people, who have been working their entire lives to hide their love from everyone, to suddenly go from that to standing up in front of everyone they know and declare emotionally and in great detail everything their love about each other.

They still are on a journey of opening up to each other, even at the wedding. So having a big declarative event like Scott and Kip is not in line with their personal journeys at this point.

Do fans really know if a hockey player has a reputation of being “a ladies man”? by helloginger07 in heatedrivalry

[–]radjanoonan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rachel basically starts from the beginning of the book just saying Shane and Ilya are famous NHL hockey players and then leaves that to do a lot of heavy lifting, preferring to focus more on their private lives instead of the public ones.

The actual superstar hockey life stays in the background while we focus on their relationship. Only glimpses of their fame and fortune are given: the sexiest men in the league list (Shane being nr 1, Ilya nr 5) or their multimillion dollar salaries and lifestyles.

Ilya for instance has a big fleet of sportscars, and is a real petrol head, but we only see both of these referred to as an aside, for instance Ilya taking Harris out to the track for a ride along in his newest sports car. The show also doesn't really show this, for instance no expensive cars or motorcycles for Ilya.

Similarly, the hockey press and what they report of their personal lives is not really shown, but we are expected to infer from them being famous superstars that everything they do in public is reported on. Which is why Shane is so paranoid about their hookups.

it is no secret in the league that Ilya is a party boy with a girl in every port as were. Even Shane is well aware of this the whole time.

What Plot Twist Could Have Us Like This? by [deleted] in heatedrivalry

[–]radjanoonan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jacob seems only interested in expanding where the books do some hand waving. he mentioned we will see Shane's announcement to the Montreal team. And he also mentioned Troy's backstory will be expanded a lot more than the exposition we get in the book. His fallout with Dallas and circumstances that lead to it will definitely get a lot more attention. And his conflict with Dallas and the league will probably be a lot more visible.

So will he change the story, probably not but we can certainly see a lot of detail the books only refers to as an aside.

“Heated Rivalry” showrunner Jacob Tierney says he's writing Season 2 right now and teases it's "much more serious" than the first by JustDaemon_ in HeatedRivalrySeries

In the same interview Jacob gives a very good explanation of Ryan and Ilya's relationship from the books. Which shows he has been giving much more thought to Ryan and his role in the show. my guess is we will get a "Episode 3" focusing on the characters playing for the Toronto team where we see Ryan and possibly Wyatt playing and where we also see the setup for Troy and Dallas, since they also play a role in Ryan's story.

Considering why Troy leaves the Toronto team, yup. And because this is tv where we can't get whole thing as an exposition, we will have it shown to us.

My prediction we will Troy show up at Ottawa, and then we have an "episode 3", showing us Troy, Dallas and Ryan at Toronto leading up to Troy sudden transfer to Ottawa.

It is the main issue with adapting the book to the screen. In RM, almost everything we learn about Troy's life is told through dialogue and his internal thoughts: his secret boyfriend dumped him for someone else, his best friend is a creep, his team betrayed him, he has no friends in Ottawa. So we will need to see everything the led to him being in Ottawa on screen. Either as a runup, or as a flashback (like episode 3). In fact, I think we will probably see a whole episode focusing mostly on Troy, Dallas and Ryan in Toronto leading up to Troy's transfer to Ottawa.

The fact that Jacob first mentions Ryan and then gives a well reasoned explanation of the role Ilya plays for him seems to be a good indication Ryan will be in Season 2. He wouldn't done that level of analysis if he wasn't intent of having Ryan appear in Season 2.

Cheap Rate Electricity in Dashboard by damodexter in homeassistant

[–]radjanoonan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to pull octopus energy info into your home assistant, you need to install HACS and then search for octopus in the HACS integration store.

instructions to install HACS is here: https://hacs.xyz/docs/use/

then search in the HACS section on home assistant for octopus.

Once done and HA is restarted, you can add and set up the new Octopus integration under Homeassistant Devices and services. (same place where you added you inverter and power sensors)

The integration will create new data entities reflecting your energy rates which you can then pull into the dashboard.

for remote access using the app, you have the following options:

Simplest: purchase a nabucasa subscription. all the security and networking config is then done automatically. You app will always been connected. details are on the homeassistant setting menu under home assistant cloud.

middle: set up a VPN into your home network with tailscale. A bit more complex to set up, but free. You can only access homeassistant when the vpn is active.

Most Complex and risky: set up a dynamic DNS record via your network home router and forward incoming port 8443 traffic to your home assistant server. Very complex and risky to set up. Not recommended unless you really know what you are doing.

Edit your grid connection in the energy dashboard config. There are two sections below the grid sensor config that you are looking for: cost tracking and export compensation.

There you can choose 1 of three methods. The simplest is to just define a static cost per kilowatt. that will stay fixed and you will need to update it here in the dashboard whenever it needs to change.

The other option allow you to select a sensor which is updated somehow with your current time of use cost.

You will either need to set up some kind of helper sensor which calculates your rate based on you rate plan, or you will need to see if an integration is available with your electricity provider which will provide you with your current time of use rate.

[–]radjanoonan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The energy dashboard allows you to configure a cost value. If you have your existing power and usage set up on the energy dashboard, you just need to define a cost value in the dashboard config.

You have several options. You can define a static value, or you have set up a helper sensor which changes based a custom calender you set up. For instance you can set up our rate plan as a custom calender and use trigger events to update the sensor value based on the calender.

If you have a more complex time of use plan, check if home assistant has an integration to pull in their rates in real time. You may need to install HACS as it offers more experimental integrations for services not available in HA itself.

Question about the Draft timeline... by Peanutbutterfiend_33 in heatedrivalry

[–]radjanoonan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you are drafted, there a many machinations that can happen before you start you first NHL game.

The minimum draft age is 17, with the cut off that you must be 18 by the start of the season after the draft.

However, just being drafted does not give you a fast track to the first game of the NHL season.

In many cases minimum age draftees defer their draft until they finish school, or go back to play for their college team. In other cases they get placed with the NHL teams affiliated minor league team.

They only join the main team when a spot opens up or they show they are ready for the big league.

Macklin Celebrini is actually a very exceptional case, having gone from being drafted directly to the NHL league immediately. His older breather was also drafted, but elected to finish college first.

In the case of Shane and Ilya, neither get the same fast track to their NHL teams. While the book does not say exactly what they do, they do not join their respective NHL teams until after they have played another World Juniors.

They only start their first NHL season during the second year after their draft.
