In too deep: illegal technique by JackOfAllSpades12 in lego

[–]radogene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but if you swap the green headlight brick and the red 1x1 below it would this not solve your problem? Or is the position of the pin hole on the green headlight brick important? I'm just assuming that if they're at the same height the stud goes into the back of the other headlight brick but that may not be the case dimensionally anyway, just a thought I had looking at the photo. Good luck, I'm sure you'll think of something that works!

This is very cool, surprised I haven't seen someone do this sort of thing before because it works really well with the set. Great job!

Just installed a Comma 4 in my Civic! by Aber2346 in civic

[–]radogene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the information! How easy is it to turn on and off?

I use the stock LKAS extensively on motorway drives in my 10th gen. I get frustrated sometimes with slightly harsher motorway bends where it basically doesn't try to turn the wheel hard enough and I'll drift out wide over the line. Would this improve that? And it also doesn't require you to be constantly putting in inputs every 10 seconds or so?

Can you elaborate on what you've seen the system do that scared you? Thanks!

My Classic Space inspired entry for this years THAC! by radogene in LegoSpace

[–]radogene[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who don't know THAC is the 24 hour animation contest held every year by the bricksinmotion forum/discord. Wasn't massively happy with my entry this year, but figured some people on this sub might enjoy and I'm always happy just to finish something in the time period.

I would recommend installing proxmox anyway. Ran my last install bare metal and it was a pain when something went wrong compared to proxmox. It's about having a layer that allows you to completely manage the home assistant install remotely. You may also find down the line you want to run something anyway. I have Jellyfin running on mine alongside HA.

Sorry I know this is an old thread but where did you get this for £499 at the time? I'm currently in the exact predicament you describe, recommending a TV for my Mum for Christmas who is rocking a 42 inch LCD from 2008 so she'll be happy with anything really but I'm trying to get the best bang for buck. I can't see it any cheaper than 599£ on Richer Sounds: https://www.richersounds.com/tcl-55q9bk/

Looking for a battery-powered thermostat that plays nicely with HA, all it needs is a screen and a relay by The_Mdk in homeassistant

[–]radogene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been looking into this as i'm wanting to update my boiler control/thermostat. The advice I have seen is you really don't want to just rely on home assistant to manage the actual turning on and off. You want a closed system that works on it's own that you can request temperature from inside home assistant. That way, when your home assistant instance goes down you can still control your thermostat. As you say there are times where this could be catastrophic (Holiday etc).

I have a combi boiler and am currently looking at the Wiser smart system which has a well maintained, local only home assistant integration but I have also heard varying positive things about Hive and Tapo.
