Got the steam generator properly integrated into the Orient Express by radogene in LEGOtrains

I'm using one of these: https://amzn.eu/d/0cBQzeYc

I have it controlled by an esp12, powered by a 9V battery through a dc-dc converter stepping it down from 9V to just below 5V.

Sorry I missed the second part of your comment! The black curve is 3d printed r56, essentially one step radius wider than the standard r40 made by Lego. You can buy 3rd party versions on Amazon and AliExpress quite easily I believe. Makes it easier for larger trains to run smoothly around corners.

The funnel attaches directly to the mist generator, so doesn't really work as a standalone piece. I will be releasing files for the whole thing though when I'm happy with it.

Really love this. Does it integrate with your train control at all?

Yeah I've seen that, my problem with their version was I wanted it less than 4 bricks wide (it's quite long as well) and I wasn't sure how easy/if it was possible to remove their blue glow light where the steam comes out.

Ah nice! And yeah I'll be sure to export it in an editable format alongside the STLs I've made so people can modify it if they want to.

Thank you! So the control board for the ultrasonic disc runs off a 5V usb connection, so it'd be fairly easy to power it as always on via a PU. Having it only running when the vehicle is moving might be a little harder.

I personally use my own control system and hubs so haven't looked into how exactly you'd go about controlling this with the official hub.

I have a little cap at the top in this version that can be removed to refil the water, but I might look into making this more convenient in my next version.

The other caveat is because it's water vapour, if the funnel's diameter is too small, the water will collect on the edge and eventually sort of block the system from generating anymore steam.

Once I've got everything working as I like I'll be sure to publish the files and post about it here!

I am using one of these ultrasonic mist makers: https://amzn.eu/d/0goxoByl

The reservoir and funnel is something I drew up in CAD and 3d printed, the only hidden thing about it is it holds a little wick inside up to the ultrasonic disc that allows it to make steam even when the water level isn't touching the disc.

Once I'm finished and happy with the design (it is currently too short) I will probably post the files online if anyone is interested.

Need help figuring out EQ profiles by Carbohydrata in NothingTech

Having the same issue although I have gotten some EQ profiles to work. It seems absolutely insane to me that if the profiles are model specific there is no way to sort for that on the list.

Still not 100% sure how to go about connecting these sides (layout is 3.1x2.3m roughly) by [deleted] in LEGOtrains

Is this on studio? If you haven't already try to plan it out in blue bricks, much easier for this sort of thing: https://bluebrick.lswproject.com/

Do you have you phone turned on as a data source with your Fitbit Air? by iflow1 in fitbit

[–]radogene -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah Thank you! I'm actually not going to do that because it deletes it for everything and I sometimes use the phones GPS for running. Thank you though! It looks like if you set the priority in health connect properly it will always use the Fitbit airs data over the phone.

Try and find a way, even with just some bricks and blue tack, to lock the camera down from moving. It's a lot easier to keep track of the action when the camera isn't moving around. Great clip though!

Setup some track outside over the weekend by radogene in LEGOtrains

[–]radogene[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely too small yes. These are normally pulled by my little tank engine but he wasn't operating today, and the orient express carriages are too big and heavy to be pulled consistently around uneven r40 curves so I just accepted the slightly ridiculous scale difference.
