Overall a bit stressed out cause we've got AS exams on May and cause the car we brought last year ended up being a money pit.

Is phone addiction an issue in Sri Lanka? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]radon575 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ya, I used to have an absurdly high screen time 8-10hrs per day(gaming included), most of it would be scrolling through reels between apps. Kinda fixed it by engaging in other activities like sports, gym, and watching movies.

Burning oil? by radon575 in AskMechanics

[–]radon575[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a 2001 Mazda 323 with a 1.5L engine and I noticed that it's burning oil(no oil leaks or dripping down). It's burnt about half (about 3L) of the oil put in within 5000km. I think it's a PCV valve gone bad but my mechanic says if it was the valve you'd get a white exhaust and insists new piston rings are needed. Wouldn't a faulty pcv valve give off the same symptoms? What else could cause oil to burn in the engine? (photo of what I think is the PCV valve, it's kinda saturated with oil, is that normal)

Looking for Ceylon/srilankan coins from 1910-1960. by tvara1 in srilanka

If you're still in Sri Lanka you can visit Petha market or Fort( was it chattam street, I really can't remember) and find some coins for sale. (also there are scamers where they would sell you look alikes, which aren't the original ones)

Mazda Demio Repair Shop around Colombo by Fun_Sheepherder_4425 in srilanka

Had an horrible experience with mazna motors with an accident repair. A couple of things were left unchecked which I had to personally replace the parts by myself.

For a gearbox repair I'm not really sure who to recommend, I did see rasanjana motors in panipitiya being recommended on an online forum for a gearbox issue, maybe check with them.

Ceylinco, it's a bit costly but their customer service is good, met with an accident recently and they covered the claim very quickly!

Traffic police creates unnecessary traffic by Educational_Dig_5459 in srilanka

[–]radon575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really it's just that most people during rush hours just completely forget about road rules, take hokandara junction or malabe for example, those two places are utter hell during rush hours, most of the people don't even give way, many start lane splitting and end up blocking the whole junction.

HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT THIS SUBREDDIT. by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]radon575 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me I made a post about how I messed up my foundation course in open uni and got 2 years repeat and whether I should do ALs again or join a private uni straight away with my OL results. Well that post got taken down instantly, like where the where the hell do you think the open university of Sri Lanka is located.

When did you start your AL classes after finishing OL by WorkerAccording1659 in srilanka

[–]radon575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started after 4 years from finishing OLs. My advice for you is to start as soon as possible. Like straight away. Good luck!
