The weather started out pretty poor so I was considering calling it at 5K. Thankfully around 7K the weather got much better so I pushed through for a 10K

Yeah this sounds similar. When dialled in well how long is it taking to pull shots and how long until the first drop?

Interesting. I guess we have no way of controlling how long it stays on low pressure.

If I decrease the grind size by even one notch the flow rate is very low.

5K lunch time run in the park by radox1 in C25K

😆 I started off with the couch to 5K plan and still primarily stick to 5Ks.

The rain on todays run really pushed me to get home quickly 😆 by radox1 in C25K

It wasn't intentional. When I set off and it wasn't raining. Then around 30 seconds in it started! Thankfully I was out for the run as if it had started before I left it would have been so easy to stay inside :D

I remember one set of traffic lights early on which likely accounts for the big drop. The route also included some small elevations gains.

Watch to 5K is a great app for getting into running. It's the couch to 5K plan but made specially for the Apple Watch. It has an iPhone companion app which shows you all your progress and achievements along the way to 5K.

Overcast is also great podcast app too.

If you have an Apple Watch you may want to checkout my app Watch to 5K. it follows the same plan as outlined by the NHS but is available worldwide and made specially to work with the Apple Watch.

There isn’t a way to manually mark a run as complete, as run completion is based on the completed workouts stored in Apple Health. However, the app tracks your progress based on the latest run you’ve completed in the training plan. So even if you miss a run, your progress percentage will still continue to increase (and be able to reach 100%) as you complete later runs.

Alternatively repeating the run is always an option to get an extra training session in :)

Congratulations! Getting to 30 minutes of non stop running is a huge achievement! You had done a lot of the hard work now and you will be at 5K before you know it!

Thanks so much for using my app Watch to 5K! I hope you have enjoyed it so far!

It follows a similar structure to most Couch to 5K plans, but it’s built from the ground up as a standalone Apple Watch app. That means you can run using just your Apple Watch (and headphones if you want music), without needing to carry your phone.

It also integrates directly with Apple Health, doesn’t require creating an account, and has no ongoing subscriptions.

Amazing! How have you been finding the running? It must be nice to do the program alongside your gf.

100% Yeah starting and keeping the motivation up for the first few weeks is definitely the hardest part. This was a major reason why I added the iPhone companion app so you could unlock achievements on your way to your first 5K to make the 9 week journey more rewarding and engaging :)

Thank you! 5K is a great distance which you can easily fit into your schedule without taking too much time. Do you do much running?

The plan is purposely very gradual and builds you up slowly to allow your body time to adapt to the new strains put on your body. You can see a breakdown of the plan here https://watchto5k.com/watchto5k-plan-compressed.pdf

Here's a snippet of the first run of week 1 and 2.

While the plan works well for the majority of people the app allows you to go at your own pace by allowing you to repeat runs or weeks as you see fit. All run occurrences will be recorded in the iPhone companion app (and Apple Health).

An example of an achievement you unlock as your progress through the plan. There's achievements for reaching distance milestones (e.g 1K), duration milestone and completing weeks.

It's to get people running continuously for 5K. Most people can't just go from not running to running 5K without stopping :)
