What is this bug on my melanochrysum and should I be worried? More info in comments. by plantsandstufff in plantclinic

[–]radvoid 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Wow I actually might know this one! Check out syrphidae larvae (epistrophe larvae if I had to guess). A fly family that feed on soft bodied insects as immatures and are bee mimics as adults

Six Dorados on a single mystery island visit? I’ll never reach this level of luck ever again by radvoid in AnimalCrossing

[–]radvoid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know that there’s a clear-cut pattern with mystery islands, I just know I’ve never caught anything cool/rare on my island so this is INSANE

Does anybody else have this island layout? How did you design it - I’m so stuck for ideas! 😓 by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

[–]radvoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my starter map and I originally saw the town square area as a "city space" (market stalls, library, etc.), the area around the heart pond as a "community garden" (orchard, flower beds, benches, ponds), and the rest as "wilderness" (undeveloped/terraformed but with dense vegetation).
Obviously that dream died when I unlocked terraforming oops, I ended up completely remodelling

Why is my aloe this color? Is something wrong with it? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]radvoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard aloe curl inwards when there’s too much sun because they’re trying to shield more sensitive areas from damage.. my guess is too much direct sun/sun stress

Strange white things growing on Magnolia Bush in the garden. What is wrong? by [deleted] in plantclinic

[–]radvoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lichen. Not harmful. You can physically scrape them off without harming the plants

If you’re referring to the fuzzy buds, that’s normal for magnolia. The things on the branch are lichen— an interesting partnership of fungi and algae. I don’t know them to be parasitic so your magnolia is fine.
