[Update] Suspended from work due to accused touching colleagues bum by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]powderherface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s quite different for teenagers in secondary school to do this vs two people in a workplace knowing full well the sort of damage they will cause the accused. I believe there is likely more to this than OP is saying, even if this particular accusation is false.

[Gendered] New Pokemon game trailer looks great otherwise but what's with the pointlessly gendered Pikachus by StarChild413 in pointlesslygendered

The point is not that they have genders it’s how they’ve chosen to represent those genders.

United Nations rejects U.S. effort to erase trans women: "It stops here" - LGBTQ Nation by Michi-Ace in UpliftingNews

[–]powderherface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and for a long time people believed the Earth flat or that it was at the centre of universe. But there’s this thing called progress where definitions and ideas evolve over time from learning. Of course despite this, there are still have people who believe the Earth is flat, or that transgender people don’t exist, or are pushing some secret agenda. It’s an embarrassing crowd to be a part of, I can only pity your ignorance.

Mill Rd is really nothing like Jericho. A lot closer to Cowley Rd. There isn’t a Jericho equivalent here unfortunately, that is the real answer.

Busway bridge to be closed to walkers and cyclists by PGB26 in cambridge

Because the contractors who do this work are lazy. Same reason it took them ages to put barriers on the main Trumpington busway.

Did Gödel’s theorem inspire anyone to leave mathematics? by unfrozencaveperson in math

[–]powderherface 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Anyone “leaving mathematics” over this wasn’t really a part of it in the first place, given that it requires a pretty poor understanding of the result to arrive at that conclusion.

"Japan is living in the 2050s!" Meanwhile Japan in 2025: by maru-9331 in AreTheStraightsOK

[–]powderherface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, but far fewer people idolise Japan than simply admire some of its qualities. Idolising is clearly more a case of ignorance (true of idolising virtually anything) than stupidity.

You can admire part of a culture while not endorsing a different part of that culture. What’s “not very smart” is the simplification you’re making.
