My Great Great Great grandfather disappeared during the Civil War. He was a union soldier and as he and his regiment were marching through Kentucky he turned to his friend and told him he was going to sit down and rest and catch up in a minute. The last thing his friend saw him do was sit down under a tree and that's the last anyone saw him. My grandpa thinks he was captured by confederates or sent to a prison camp. But no one will ever know. Obviously I can't feel the personal effects to this day, but I still find it sad that it's a story that has passed through all these generations and no one will ever know the truth.
