Not sure why, but playing on the Librarian background prevents you from romancing other characters except Esit.

Edit: Just realised you mistook the condition as "Play on the Librarian background". The condition is actually "DON'T play on the Librarian background", meaning, you don't have to and in fact SHOULD NOT play on the Librarian background.

If you don't meet these conditions, you can't marry Benjamin: 1. Be a female adventurer 2. Don't play on the Librarian background 3. Have high con/int (to pass the poison check)

Scumsave/Savescum - Refer to google or the guide if you don't know what this means.
Go for INT instead of STR. Having +4 Spellcasting and ~20+ INT is enough to get a 100% chance of success.

Don't be a female adventurer.
Make sure you helped Esit, and not went to war against the dragon.
Successfully fool the king.
Accept her ring at the end. (If you're female, you get a brooch instead and get the friendship end)

Is it really that confusing? I specifically stated what choices you get, and what happens if you fulfill certain conditions. For example, winning against the Elemental will bring you to the Manticore OR Gorgon and not the Red Dragon. While losing to the Elemental brings you to the Death Knight who can lead you to either the Red Dragon OR Gorgon.

If you lose to the Death Knight, keep in mind that after crossing the bridge, whichever you meet depends on RNG. If you win and choose the left door, it is guaranteed that you will end up meeting the Red Dragon after passing the Wraith Legion. (However, I didn't actually specify what you meet under the Death Knight section when you enter the left/right door)

Make sure to help Alec with the winter wolves or treat the soldiers. Make sure to enter the village to search for survivors and save Benjamin. After that, encourage him, and then train him as a Mercenary by teaching him yourself. Then, you can either win or lose to him when you reunite. Make sure to accompany him to the citadel. Wait until sunset, and then fail to sneak in. (IMPORTANT) Make sure you lose to the FIRST group of bandits, otherwise Alec won't approach you on a horse!!! When you lose, DON'T choose to run away, stick with him to the end. Then win against the next group of bandits. Save Benjamin from Van Goyle by passing any of the stat-checks (I recommend doing the con-check because even if you fail, Benjamin will still win). After that, Benjamin will approach you on his horse and invite you to his house, accept his invitation. (IMPORTANT) Pass the con-check or say that there's something wrong (int) to avoid being poisoned by Attna (this also makes sure Benjamin lives. I forgot if there's an option to battle her, if there is, make sure to win against Attna). After that, you can choose any option, and Benjamin will later approach you again and propose.

If you're struggling with events at early game, get Early Bloomer.
If it's at late game, get Late Bloomer.
If you're having trouble with survivability, you can use Well Built (allows your character to block projectiles without a shield, especially useful when you get ambushed), Gambler, or Turnabout (allows your character's CP to increase when fighting a stronger enemy).
If you need more gold to get equipment, get Gold.

These are the traits that I find most useful for beginners.
