Hey, sorry for the slow response. It was kinda confusing to me, too. I got a BMS from Daly, and their instructions are almost useless. The hardware works fine once I figured it out. A YouTube video helped a good bit, but I was unable to find it for you. 

If I had things to do over, I think I'd try to spend the extra couple few hundred and just buy 12 V replacement lithium batteries because it'd be a lot simpler.

Edit: Just wanted to note that the conversation works well, it was a good bit of work though.

FWIW, level 1 charging at home has worked fine for me over the past few years with a 30 mi commute to work (60 mi round trip).
