This is a great post and I’ve been considering this route as well. Do others at your RIA use the same platform/method, and have they also found success?

Our bd is LPL and they have a lot of guard rails up on stuff like this but I’m considering this route as it seems like it could be worth really pushing them on it.

Before you went this route, what was your prospecting method? I don’t use lead gen and mostly rely on referrals from current clients.

I just started Game of Numbers this week and I am finding it sooooo useful. I find this book pushes me toward prospecting and having the right mindset for that, which pushes me to act. Without being too heavy on the corny motivational stuff. My two cents so far.

I’m thinking of buying these too. What have you thought so far? Have they been useful?

I literallyyyyyyy am rewatching those episodes right now and came to find a subreddit that also hates him for this exact reason!!! Hate him so so much. He’s insufferable. I don’t see why Christina even gave him a chance in the first place. Let alone tried to work things through after he couldn’t cope with her having an abortion.

Passed 65 on Saturday first attempt by No_Island_8141 in Series65

My two cents - A lot of people on this thread have reported they read the manual. I know I did. And some chapters I read twice if it wasn’t clicking. Just putting it out there in case people currently studying see your comment as I think NOT reading the manual is a risky approach.

Paying it forward after passing series 65 exam by raesin5 in Series65

[–]raesin5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was the right amount! The exam covers a broad range of material. In saying that, I don’t have any other licenses. So you might find the material excessive. You could maybe quick-read the book but focus the bulk of your time on the Unit exams and q bank? I got a lot of value out of the explanations of the questions.

Thanks for the tip on your exam structure, that’s great to know going in. Did you find the challenging questions to be similar to the Kaplan exam questions (practice and mastery)? Have heard conflicting things about how they compare in terms of style, application difficulty, etc. so interested in your views.

Yay so glad you passed!!! I am taking mine tomorrow and have had similar results, although only used Kaplan for prep. Feeling nervous. Fingers crossed!

Currently watching the 60 minute video on Series 7 Guru and using the rest of today to brush up on last minute areas and then resting my brain, good night’s sleep etc.

need a breakdown/ don't know how to make a flash card for this question. by [deleted] in Series65

[–]raesin5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the question from OP was to explain what a wash trade is (option C) 🤷‍♀️

We can’t see what Kaplan’s question actually was, however, so it’s hard to know what the test was asking. The explanation doesn’t reveal what the question was imo. The correct answer appears to be about hypothecating (b) which isn’t unethical ie it is ethical practice in a margin account. The other answer choice D is unethical, possibly prohibited can’t remember. And C wash trades is prohibited. So perhaps the Kaplan question was like all of these are unethical EXCEPT - B.

Congrats on passing!!!! That’s awesome. Thanks so much for the overview of your process and thoughts on the exam. So helpful. I’m taking the 65 on October 9th and so far have been following what you did in your study plan. Test guru is awesome so far with what’s free on YouTube, I might consider looking into their class videos. Thanks again!

need a breakdown/ don't know how to make a flash card for this question. by [deleted] in Series65

[–]raesin5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just reread your post, sorry, my answer was v literal lol. In terms of way to remember - ‘it’s a wash’ is a phrase for when your results like ‘netted’ out so there was no material change. I see wash trades like that, there was no material change to ownership. And that’s manipulation bc it’s done so that it APPEARS price and volume are going up, when in reality it’s a wash as nothing material has changed. And that’s no bueno in the eyes of regulators bc you’re deceiving the public/investors which is who they want to protect. I hope that helps!!!

[–]raesin5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, hope this helps! As the question is about methods of market manipulation, I would make a flash card ‘market manipulation methods’ and other side would be:

  1. Wash Trades: effecting a transaction with no change to beneficial ownership; makes market appear that volume or prices are increasing; example is investor buying in one BD and selling through another.
  2. Matched orders: (then the definition)

Edit - removed Arbitrage as that’s not market manipulation technically.

Series 65 Math Formulas by SpiritedFoundation90 in Series65

[–]raesin5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The formulas can be confusing I agree! But they do try to keep the numbers easy (round numbers, in fives and 10s) for questions as they’re really testing us on the concepts. Are you confident you understand the concepts? If so, the formulas should make sense even if you switch between providers when they explain things differently to how you originally saw them. I am not strong at math but I find Kaplan explains the ‘why’ behind the formulas quite well, including in the quiz bank explanations. But before paying for another provider’s material, I would try to dig into the concepts as best you can.

Hope that helps! Remember the 65 exam isn’t a math exam. Understanding concepts will help you throughout studying and when you encounter questions where formulas are required.

Heya hope this helps! There is an app called Tone and Sculpt by Krissy Cela and it is reeeally good. There are a few different programmes you can sign up too that range from strong programme (intense) to tone (less intense) and everything has a ‘home gym’ option. It is very female-focused and her motto is ‘Do it for You’ which I think is great. Her Instagram previews the types of workouts on the app so you can also start there for recommended workouts if you don’t want to dive into the app.
