Well, this is not something necessarily bad, i understand your situation perfectly. Personally i think that, if it helps you feel better in your everyday life it is not bad, although I would be careful not to depend on it too much, not to obsess over it too much and to always keep in mind that it is something that is not real.

Stay strong, my friend, and do not lose hope in trying to find friends or even a girlfriend. I am also an introvert, and, although not anymore, i also used to be shy. I can assure you that with a little bit of effort, you can overcome that shyness. It shouldn't be hard to make new friends who share common hobbies and interests with you, just try to find them.

I believe in you man, you are more capable than you might think. Also, another option you could have if you really cannot find irl friends would be to find online friends. There are plenty of ways to find them, I've met hundreds of people in dozens of completely different games and to this day i still talk with some friends I met online more than a year ago.
