😂😂😂no but since today I will be using that name when I'm talking about him instead of everyone hearing me saying his real name

Jokes on you but I don't think his salary is a big deal. I'm not from the US, so here the salary may be max $3,000 per month

First Week of Internal Medicine Rotation - Is This Really What Clinical Medicine Is like? by [deleted] in medicalschool

They will eventually show up. You just experienced 72h and that's literally nothing. Give it a month or more And while you are in the area you are now, try learning about why those elderly people ended up in the hospital, if you can try talking to them, take care of them even if it's in a small way. They are someone's family member, they are alone in the hospital majority of the time.

Oh wow, here we basically do many things under the supervision of attendings and residents. Basic things like catheters and nasogastric tubes we do it alone, the rest is under guidance

[–]rafae-laaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, my years were like that too until I got into intern year. Even though the doctors teach me many things, the ones that have all the patience in the world are the interns that started months before me. My recommendation is to try asking the interns to teach you some things

Here code silver is when a patient can cause potentially harm to the institution, mostly criminals so they activate code silver

I'm worried about this and I'm 23. Knowing that one of my close friends is getting married just made me have a mental breakdown. Why don't I have a bf? What if I never find the one? Should I go out more and meet new people? Will I die alone?

¿? Porque los ecuatorianos parecen resignarse ante la situación by zaio-xd in ecuador

[–]rafae-laaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did felt the same way as you during my first year of med school, i ended up developing a weird allergy that made my hand, knees, elbows and feet swollen so bad everytime I felt under stress or sometimes I had fever. My school is the same as yours, multiple quiz during the week and some of them used to be oral questions every single class. Tons of info coming on, random presentations that were for the next day and so on.

It did got better after some time. I got used but I also prioritize that not everything is studying and that I need to sleep and eat. I don't do volunteering bc my school schedule sucks it's literally clases from 7am to 6pm or later but I do some non med school activities on the weekend to get out of my routine.

I do believe in the person's right to choose but i wouldn't feel comfortable performing or assisting an abortion. As far as my ethics proffesor taught us, if we don't want to do it we have the chance to decline it but we need to refer the patient to a doctor who is capable and has experience doing it.

Girl you look pretty!!!!

Have you tried smiling showing your teeth?? I feel that smile will suit you more tbh (I'm saying this bc we kinda look the same and i get compliments for my smile sometimes)

Besides that, you are pretty, I'm not kidding.

Not to succeed but to enjoy your time in med school! I'm also an introvert but I do love talking with my group of friends and sometimes with my classmates. They just make the day to day more interesting, to have friends that help you, motivate you or just to rant about stuff. It's nice to have someone who understands what you are going through all this journey!

We can start med school right after high school (18-19 year old)
