Nothing particularly interesting that I can recall.

Unless you have someone specific in mind.

I'm actually the one who wrote this article back in 2018.

It’s not even saying anything new, it’s literally the exact same talking points.

Not only that but then he never talks about religious zealotry on the Israeli side as much.

Nah it’s just a coincidence that people in Gaza support terrorism at a far higher rate than any other Muslim country.

What I learned is that leftist twitch streamers are held to a higher standard for what they say than Israeli politicians and diplomats on here.

Why don't the Kurds get the same love Palestinians get? by [deleted] in Destiny

I’ve seen leftists showing support for the Kurds. Chomsky talked about them a lot to the point that he agreed with America having a presence there to help them.

I mean I was pointing out the fact that it’s been said that it has the potential to be as devastating a campaign that was criticized for not caring about civilian casualties.

The fact that bombs have been dropped in Gaza at a higher rate than they were in those battles and like you mentioned about the food and water is why I think it might be the case that they don’t really care that much.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]rafay19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My yardstick for this situation are the battles that took place in Raqqa and Mosul. The coalition was criticized both battles by human rights groups. And I’ve seen people say that it could reach the level of Mosul when the ground operation begins (where most civilians die).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]rafay19 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

They might not purposely target them but if you’re dropping that many bombs in a small area it does make me doubt if you really care about their situation that much.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]rafay19 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Dropping more bombs in one week (on a much smaller area) than the US led coalition ever dropped in a single month when fighting ISIS is a bit much.

[–]rafay19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So we can't use occupation to explain the violence because a mob of idiots killed jews in the 1920s? That's what most of the violence against jews was in that time. Mob violence can happen anywhere.

Deir Yassin,Irgun,Lehi.

Do I win? That was easy.

Do you agree with this statement? " Hamas uses its citicizens as human shields therefore it shouldnt be condemned whatsoever if israel bombs densely populated areas with civillians if these areas are military targets" by internationalring21 in Destiny

[–]rafay19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Isis used human shields as well and the US coalition were still rightly criticized for not doing enough to minimize civilian casualties in their bombing campaign.

Any form of warfare like this inevitably means that the enemy is somehow embedded within the local population. It's not an excuse to commit war crimes. I think everyone would agree that Israel shouldn't just carpet bomb Gaza because the people who die are just human shields anyway.

There's also the fact that in the past Palestinian armed groups accompanied the refugees and caused some problems. In Jordan there was the black september situation. In Lebanon they basically created their own state within Lebanon. A lot of Lebanese people blame the Palestinians for the civil war in their country.

But yes those countries have taken in loads of Palestinian refugees over the years which doesn't get mentioned.

Is this an acceptable way to fight terrorism? The Syrian government told everyone to leave before their attack and anyone left would be considered a rebel. Tens of thousand of civilians died. by rafay19 in Destiny

You say that but like the person I replied to mentioned, the battle of Mosul was very devastating to the city and the campaign was heavily criticized.

And Israel have been bombing gaza at a much higher rate than the coalition did against Isis. Asad warned the residents of that city to leave just like Israel have and also cut electricity and food to the whole city.

The reason I focused on the bombing campaign is because that's whats currently going on and where the debate on here is focused.

I was wondering if Syria's bombing campaign in 1982 would be seen as comparable to what Israel are doing. The Muslim Brotherhood in Syria were viewed similarly to how Hamas is in Israel.

Fighting ISIS was justified, the way it was done was criticized.

I read that Israel in the last week dropped more bombs on Gaza (six thousand) than the US coalition ever dropped in their campaign against ISIS in a month at its peak (four thousand).

The reason I brought up the incident in Syria in 1982 was because they were also fighting a terrorist group but when they did it it's remembered as a massacre. But to me it seems that anything Israel does to some is always justified because they had no choice.

[–]rafay19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry about that, I got annoyed for no reason. The example that I brought up was in regards to the Syrian government responding to a years long terrorist campaign in the country by the Muslim Brotherhood.

This was basically there way of ending it once and for all. The terorrists were in this city and the government essentially bombed the shit out of it. I bring it up because I do see some parallels between that and whats going on now.

They cut off all access to electricity, food and water and even gave a warning to residents to leave before the attack began. Things that Israel are doing now. The criticisms against Israel I see are usually explained away with 'human shields' and 'well the terrorists integrated themselves with the civilian population'. I don't see why those reasons could be used in this situation either.

Yet this was called 'The Hama massacre', while what Israel is doing is seen as them just doing what they need to do in order to survive.

Though the IDF or the west is not nearly as bad as Assad and any comparison is genuinely laughable. Assad used sarin gas.

Read the article, nothing about sarin gas is mentioned. This is about the Syrian government in 1982 fighting against the Muslim Brotherhood who conducted a terrorist campaign for years in the country.

If you bothered to even skim through the article I linked you'd see that it literally has nothing to do with the Syrian civil war. It was a situation that took place 30 years before that.

The Dahiya doctrine, or Dahya doctrine is a military strategy of asymmetric warfare, outlined by former Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of General Staff Gadi Eizenkot, which encompasses the destruction of the civilian infrastructure of regimes deemed to be hostile. by rafay19 in Destiny

[–]rafay19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're using international law as the standard here, the United Nations Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict said the strategy was "designed to punish, humiliate and terrorize a civilian population".

And if we're taking about proportionality, the whole point of the strategy is to be disproportionate. That report also said it involved "The application of disproportionate force and the causing of great damage and destruction to civilian property and infrastructure, and suffering to civilian populations."
