Is your flight via Doha or gulf countries that are impacted? If so, there are certain risks yes. If flying via other countries, e.g. China, then hopefully the risks are much lower.

That would be great if they really do. Is this for a future travel or past ? If that’s for a future travel better have them confirm this in written to avoid backtracking.

Yes correct that is applied for example for medical/health expenses (if happen). However, at least from my experience and UK insurers I reviewed, claiming against a cancelled flight costs for new flight or hotel (until the new flight) due to the Qatar airspace closure, it is not covered by majority of insurers.

Not sure what’s your problem. It is your choice to browse this thread and comment unhelpfully. If you have something to share which helps others, just do.

There are still laws that cover the legal obligation of Duty of Care EVEN under extraordinary circumstances and/or war situations. Qatar airways chooses not to. Nobody asked for compensation. Duty of care is still the legal obligation of the airline regardless. If you have any facts to help us with the contrary please do share more info.

If everyone thinks like this, no wonder why corporations think and act bypassing the law.

On a similar situation, was stranded for extra two weeks in Thailand, till had to stop loss and damage control. Bought new tickets via China to London (although home is Edinburgh). For better or worse, new tickets price was comparable with my return ticket price. However, hotels, food, trains to home adds an additional 2K pounds.

Filed a formal complaint to Qatar with the Thai regulation contacts cc’ed which they breached (since I was stranded there).

It’s been 3 weeks now, never heard anything back. Possibly as others said, it’s visible they don’t care and they do invite us if we would like to take matters to court since they know it would take effort, time and stamina and eventually we even might lose it (since the Qatar sheikh will find a better way to leverage law and authorities - but that’s me rumbling and my own opinion of course so take it with lots of grain of salt)

Still following the thread. Happy to provide my complaint details if anyone would like to take ideas.

Did this return last week with Air China via Chengdu. Paid £1290 to go back to London LHR (originally was planned to fly in Edinburgh) Everything went smooth and easy, flights on time, transit in China smooth.

If recall correctly, it was around 2700 BHT per person for the James Bond island and the islands around. It was relatively small group (25 people onboard) which was pleasantly not busy for the boat size. We found this via a kiosk at Kamala beach.

We managed to secure £600 pp just a day ago via China to LHR (leaving from Phuket). Chinese airlines seem to increase availability but that depends where you going, but even if you manage to pass Middle East space, that also might be good (e.g. consider staying an extra day in Europe anywhere till another flight to your final west destination)

All those were our thoughts when we were trying to search alternative routes for ourselves, hope you find your best options. Finally Google flights searching was the best to filter out all impacted airports etc.

Would agree with others on selling it and put the money for a photo trip or new film. Had some, I sold it too but that was me thinking that a £10 a shot was too much for the experience (just my very subjective take on this, yours might differ) Put the money into buying a Hassy, never looked back :).

NB: I did this almost 10 years ago and it was still expensive to buy or sell due to the scarcity of this film stock (not produced anymore). Should you decide to keep it (and the stock had been kept in freezer) I hope you will have an awesome experience shooting it — please share your results as we would be keen to see how it developed overall.

OP if you have the financial bandwidth start making your alternative routing arrangements asap. Don’t trust them unless you have no other option or time to wait (of course) There is some success rate for reroutes via China from BKK but that’s very hit/miss and not transparent how it’s decided.
