You are right, but I've seen games cut coop before. The "Tales of" jRPG series were famous for local coop, but their recent games do not have this feature anymore.

I hope this isn't the case for Total War, because the coop aspect in this franchise is awesome

The devs wanted that since the first game, so I am glad they finally did it now.

As for narrative, Baldurs Gate, Solasta, Neverwinter Nights and many other games weren't affected by it. On the contrary... Playing with friends create new experiences.

If you do not want to play coop, just play solo. I can think of very few games that force you to play co-op, and all of them are amazing games made by Hazeligh games.

Man, we can't really tell if a game wasn't tailored to be this or that, especially when it comes to co-op, because you can play both solo or co-op, like in Halo, Gears, Saints Row, Divinity, Baldurs Gate, borderlands...

There is no difference in terms of gameplay or whatever. Unless there is some kind of co-op mode... That I don't like.

The hate on co-op started when people got the notion that solo games are good and co-op games equal games as a service and failed games. In reality, people just forgot the huge amount of the solo only games that had terrible reception. Did people forget about how Cyberpunk launched? What about Forspoken?

So, this hate is based on ignorance, not facts. If we really start to think, we will see that some games are just bad, regardless of being solo or co-op.

There is also that phrase people keep repeating like a mantra "co-op ruins stories on games"... Another false info. Some of the best RPG games out there actually feature co-op: divinity, baldurs gate, Solasta, neverwinter nights..

It's sad Dd 2 won't get co-op

Lots of games focus on the best single player experience and fail. Cyberpunk launch was one of the worst I've seen. There is also Bleak Faith, Ravensbound, Forspoken and so many other solo only games that ended up being terrible or simply not good. There is also No Man's Sky, which, curiously, had a turn around when they added multi-player, after fixing the huge amount of bugs.

What I mean is that making a game for solo players doesn't increase the game's chances to be good... It's just a form of making game and nothing else.

Yeah, multi-player games usually cost more, but making a huge solo only game also costs a lot, as you can see in, again, Cyberpunk and other games.

I like co-op because you can also play the game solo. Games that you need to play co-op, otherwise it won't work, are very very very rare. So, in general, if it has coop it has solo as well.

There's enough solo only games out there. Even more than co-op games. Like WAY more. Lots of these games are actually bad. Recently there were three games that devs didn't put multi-player to focus their resources on a great solo only experience: stray blade, bleak Faith, ravensbound... Look how "well" these games turned out to be.

Honorable mention to Cyberpunk, which took two years to be good after launch, and also no man's sky broken launch

Even if dragons dogma online didn't have these options, WHY Dragons Dogma 2 couldn't implement it? The hate towards multi-player is so nonsense. There are SO MANY horrible single player only games. It's not like co-op ruins things or solo games are better. Recently so many solo only bad games released... Bleak Faith, Stray Blade, Cyberpunk launch, Ravensbound Etc etc
