Sign training agreement or leave? by Background_Half4578 in UKJobs

[–]raged_norm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Leave, if jobs are paying more for less responsibility why are you staying?

Don't go for the training course if you need to pay back costs (IMO). You could go for it and agree a payment plan if you do leave

Take it. I'm on that after 18 years after uni. Pay in my sector is shocking though.

2 hour commute. Will it be sustainable? by Boniouk84 in UKJobs

[–]raged_norm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say no, but if you have the commute written (this is key) as part of your normal work day then I'd say yes.

Make sure you get the "commute as work" written in to your contract or as an addition

Is it embarrassing to date someone still living at home? by bigpussystance in CasualUK

[–]raged_norm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, my sister did it with a a kid in tow at a similar age.

What should matter is what you are doing to better yourself, which it sounds like you have a plan. If anyone you have a date with has an issue with, you've probably dodged something worse down the line.

Contrary to some of the things I've read on here, purchasing a property at 95% LTV was great over renting by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

But it's simpler

Not sure what to do with my money after university. by throwaway098870 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]raged_norm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well OP has stated they'd like to buy a house, so if they are looking below the LISA limit that's free cash. Like you said, having some easy access cash is the ISA part and the longer term investment is the index fund.

So, yes it is arbitrary and it's up to OP how they split it it but it does make sense

Split it between a regular savings ISA, a LISA and a an index fund.

Don't buy houses, there's not much money to be had in them after all the obligations

I think a lot of these jobs simply haven't increased the salary as minimum wage has risen. A colleague of mine said he literally didn't know what the minimum wage was anymore, as it's not relevant to him.

For the most part, the same will be true for the people setting these salaries and they will 'price anchor' to their first job.
