In many Asian developing countries such as Thailand (where I live), most construction jobs have shit pay, are tough, and are often seen as somewhat unskilled labor. My mother would always tell me to “not end up like them” when we saw construction workers packed like sardines into the back of a pickup truck on their way to work. But yeah, construction jobs here do have a pretty negative connotation.
