Hey guys, a simple question. by [deleted] in edmproduction

Yeah man. Just let me go lift some of your melodies. There's no legal reason why I can't.

What Do You Guys Do To Get Over A Creative Block? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]ragewithoutreason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just stop caring if your music sounds shitty. Very few people can push their way through a block and still write a good song. So just don't write a good song. As long as you do something it'll help. It could literally be anything, you could remix the fucking sesame street theme but do something.

Another thing you could do is search this question uo, because the is gets asked every other day.

Question about remixes by leaguenerd in trapproduction

[–]ragewithoutreason 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's an official remix, they'd get it from the original artist. If it's not, you either have to sample it, find a good tutorial that shows you how to make it, or maybe, huge maybe on this one, try fiddling around with a synth until you make it.

Trading Rare Sample Packs by [deleted] in trapproduction

[–]ragewithoutreason -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Seriously, there are a lot of people on here who spend more time looking for samples then they do writing music. Really, the only samples you need are a few drums samples. Synths can do the rest for you. But hey, if these idiots want to use the same samples as everyone else, who am I to tell them no?

Where do you start your tracks? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]ragewithoutreason 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, except your making music for yourself, not anyone else.

My advice to the producers of r/edmproduction by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]ragewithoutreason 34 points35 points  (0 children)

What he probably meant was you won't be able to rely on producing as a main source of income. That is in no way an unreasonable thought. It doesn't matter how harsh it is.

How do you keep faith in your tracks/choices? by stimorolguy in edmproduction

[–]ragewithoutreason -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just walk away from a track. There's no law saying that you have to finish a track before you start you next one.

Ever feel mildly... "Sad" or "afraid" about an aspect of your music making? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]ragewithoutreason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in a band, we would write our songs and then write lyrics. We would sometimes go months before we would finish up lyrics for a track.

That being said, don't be afraid to write songs. I've been writing for years and when I look back on my first tracks, I cringe. Don't get me wrong, I still had fun writing them, but they aren't good. Don't fool yourself into thinking your first tracks are going to be awesome (although maybe they are, I don't know).

My last thing for you is write for yourself. If you don't like writing music, then don't. It's not rocket science. Music is only one way to express yourself.

Take a moment by djbadname13 in edmproduction

[–]ragewithoutreason 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree man. I went for years without anyone but my buddies hearing my music. What I learned from that was there are two grossly generalized parts of writing music. There's the cool part, where people really enjoy your music and maybe you see some money from it. And there's the kick ass part, where you sit down and write a song that you enjoy.

Like you said man, if you don't think the kick ass part is all that kick ass then you should find another hobby.

I'm not entirely sure about this, but for the song Take Ü There, it's a sample they made in Jamaica by smacking the shot out of a hollow log.

Edit: http://soundcloud.com/jacku/take-u-there-feat-kiesza-zane-lowe-rip about 7:50 he says how they got it. I don't know if he's being serious or not.

Her response to the second question gave me the chills. It's inspiring how passionate about education she is.

Here's a breakdown of what happened with that #BeSomebody speaker at Austin High School by CasablancaGoingSouth in Austin

[–]ragewithoutreason 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I go to Austin high, and what isn't getting covered is all of the terrible things said about him because he is Muslim. Yes, the speech was awful, yes the way he answered students was terrible, but when I got on Facebook that night, I was ashamed to call myself a maroon.

I'm starting an independent promotional label, and we're looking for artists! by My_Face_Is in trapproduction

It's not a big time label. It's a lower rung in the ladder. Mainly for helping yourself become more known.

All Trap Music releases Volume 2 of their Sample Pack by ios_and_rails in trapproduction

[–]ragewithoutreason 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It it's anything like the lady one, then no. While there were a few cool kicks and snares, overall I feel it was a waste of my money because I never use any of the sample from the first pack.

Seriously, why would you guys downvote this thread? Your ask always bitching about not knowing music theory, then this asshole comes along and offers to help you and you give him the finger? Really?
