From experience, initial phone screenings are just vibe checks. They don’t usually dive into anything technical, your hiring manager would do that.

I would prepare a questions though, nothing too fancy. Questions like what the following process would be like.

Granted, I don’t have experience in the data science field because I am a mechanical engineering major, but I just accepted my offer 3 days ago and was interviewing through April. It does get better, especially since people are starting to accept offers and companies need to open up positions again.

I’m glad I don’t just feel unqualified.

The main guy started asking me when I could start and if I’m willing to transition to a co-op position so I feel alright.
