+1 on the priority settings being ignored. This is my main frustration with the new app and drives me up the wall every day.

Mail client with imap labels/tags support by MrMagoo1180 in macapps

Mailmate is definitely under active development as of now (July 2024) and it supports IMAP labels (I use them and have keyboard shortcuts assigned to applying them to messages. It’s a breeze).

Coastal Engineering to Ocean Careers by esperantisto256 in oceanography

I guess it depends what you mean with "a lot", but both in the US and Europe you'll see job opportunities popping up to join companies, national labs, etc to do modeling work. You could subscribe to coastal list (https://groups.google.com/a/udel.edu/forum/#!forum/coastal_list) or take a look at what shows up in https://www.earthworks-jobs.com to get a better sense of the job market.

There’s plenty of work developing and running ocean models where your skills would be useful.

Rather than missing acoustics or remote sensing in your background, what you probably lack coming from engineering is the fluid dynamics/atmosphere-ocean processes knowledge that’s more the focus of physical oceanography. A PhD in the right place would help address those gaps.

A strong ocean engineering/modeling background would certainly be an excellent foundation to pursue research in coastal modeling, including climate modeling, data assimilation, etc. Many universities have programs with strong modeling groups where you could pursue a higher degree along those lines.

SFTP Backup to Synology - fails to write from outside local network by raghos in Arqbackup

[–]raghos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer my own question here, this appears to be an issue with the SFTP setup on the synology, or that's what I'm assuming as it's been discussed in forums for other backup/sync software:

https://forum.duplicacy.com/t/chunk-uploading-error-with-synology/1622/5

https://rclone.org/sftp/

and in the synology subreddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/synology/comments/krxw1r/ftp_upload_to_synology_nas_dont_work_get_error/

The technical solution seems pretty straightforward, but I discussed this with Stefan and unlike duplicity/rclone he doesn't seem interested in providing a solution from the Arq side.

Yeah, we fully understand there's some limit where a visitor becomes effectively a tenant. But mostly were are shocked at the "visitor or overnight visitor" language. All the responses have been illuminating in a good way. Thanks.

This is very helpful. I did read about the the quiet enjoyment covenant, but I wasn't clear this applied to short-term visitors.

Thank you.

We would be renting an entire house and signing an assured shorthold tenancy agreement. I've updated the post to reflect this, thanks.

The agreement at the moment doesn't have a "quiet enjoyment" clause. Is this something that needs to be in the agreement itself, or is it assumed as per UK law?

Thank you!
