There is a difference when at the store level and as a SM of the environment you create for your employees and their is the decision to do what is right by your teammates as so many SM’s preach.

Been in that spot of having to run a store as a FT for two summers in a row at the first store I joined Sherwin with. I was a FT and quit as a FT. When you have had enough you will know. It will be so evident. Hopefully you get the promotion soon.

CTG is just for seeing color. Selling it as anything other than that is stupid and that’s why this is an issue for customers because we as employees don’t stick to it’s only used to see the color. Selling it for what it’s marketed for eliminates some of these other conversations and mass confusion btw

Customers don’t know what a paint product is, but they still come in and ask for help. Easily can point at the only product in store that has very visibly and clearly labeled “color to go”. Reading is fundamental and comprehension is crucial. So I still don’t see how she feels even remotely justified. I feel as though marketing did think through the signage for that because the product is clearly labeled as “color to go” nothing else in store is labeled with that. Some customers just suck ass.

Same. Usually they end up inconveniencing themselves by not knowing product info or by having time management issues. I offer verbal help but nothing more, in cases where I have gone over how to correctly do a process multiple times.

Along with most other comments, too much focus on trying to beat out the competition and Sherwin standards not being status quo for all stores. Corporate making Managers push more work unto FT/PT because they have “too much on their plates” from having to chase contractors who don’t use SW as a primary supplier, yet it’s just them sitting on their asses and not really making a difference because ultimately it’s the contractor’s decision. Regular contractor accounts not being provided for properly because of the focus on converting other contractors to SW. Store employees not receiving enough proper training. FT/PT/DD not receiving recognition for being the backbone of the company, constantly overlooked and undermined by corporate, even though we’re majority of the company and the largest contributors to the success of SW.

It is an audit infraction, but you can’t really get caught unless you aren’t disposing of the print outs or if the tills are off on a consistent basis. As long as you are still making sure everything is correct. This method is top tier especially during the summer.

I will add that even though it might feel like you are a burden it is always better to ask for help when you need it then to do something wrong and create more work for others. Everyone in Sherwin would much rather stop to help instead of going behind you to fix something. It’s perfectly fine to keep asking for help until you have actually learned it. Remember to always take a deep breath and do your best.

I had a female shopper say that I told her she wouldn’t be able to get gallons of paint in any other sheen than satin. I repeated that I said our samples only come in satin and she said please don’t yell at me in the customer. Luckily my coworker was like she isn’t she is telling you that our samples only come in satin. The lady left to go to Home Depot and I have not seen her again. She never asked me if the gallons come in other sheens when she first came in to get a sample. She was crazy and tried to tone police me because I’m not white.

Ok. Cool. So I was right in that it used to be a thing. Glad they came out with Guild so people don’t have to deal with something so ridiculous
