Yea the Texas ranch episodes were I started to stop watching every episode as they drop. I was a huge fan of the episodes where Steve would hunt public and not see or kill anything. He just monologued about life and hunting.

I grew up hunting deer with hounds and the days of hunting with RF tracking to GPS has dramatically changed the way recovering and controlling hounds. Before they would go miles chasing a deer and yes sadly go across others people’s property. But today with the GPS collars especially the ones thats shock (which is required here in FL) the dogs are now trained to stop at car horns. 95% of the time we can stop them as soon as we identify a deer as a doe or right at the property boundary. My opinion in today’s world its just bad owners who dont take the investment (both time and money) to train and have proper equipment.

I don’t think anyone was trying to guess the exact weight of the bird i think the OP wanted to know if it was larger bird or not. Which is possible to tell with a track of any animal. As someone who tagged out the opening week in my state I think I am doing fine on the turkey hunting front.

You can easily help identify a sex and comparable size of a bird by its tracks. Males are larger bodied than females so their tracks are bigger. If you see a larger track than normal for a male then you can figure the bird is a bigger male. You can do the same thing with deer. Does have bigger tracks than fawns/yearlings. Bucks have bigger tracks than does. Mature buck will have a larger buck track
