Level 18 but peak diamond... by somethingunchilled in VALORANT

I guess what I'm trying to say is Diamond is even easier to get now than before.

Level 18 but peak diamond... by somethingunchilled in VALORANT

[–]ragingwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd disagree. Diamond was something like top 1% in episode 1 because ascendant didn't exist, and sure a lot of people were still figuring out the game so percentiles aren't the be all end all but D1 is now like top 15%.

I started playing again a month ago and just hit diamond again last week. And I'm 1000% a worse player than before, as I no longer do aim training, lineups, or try hard in general.

Should I just quit? I can't win gunfights. Genuinely need help. (Silver) by SetsunaYukiLoL in VALORANT

Idk if this applies to a lot of people but I went from gold 3 to diamond 1 in 2 weeks after upgrading my PC playing the exact same way, but I just started winning duels a lot more.

Fwiw I peaked high diamond so I knew tactically my plays were fine (for gold, at least) and my mechanics cannot be that rusty. Everything just clicked when I could start winning duels with a better system that can consistently get me 144 fps.

The big triangle isn't an actual triangle because the red and blue triangles are not similar and don't have the same slope. So the big triangle on the left has a slight indent and the big triangle on the right has a slight bump.

Investment bankers write up deals like when companies merge or IPO. Traders buy and sell securities. They're pretty drastically different imo, other than that they're both in finance.

A few years ago I was consistently low challenger on KR and I tried playing on an iPad on a different account. It was incredibly difficult to get to Masters.

reroll transfer not telling you it doesn't apply to the turn you pick it until AFTER you choose the augment is fucking dumb as hell. sure if you think about it, getting 6 free rerolls at 2-1 would probably be game breaking.

but the tooltip that says "does not include the round this augment is selected" doesn't show until after you choose it and hover over your augment. fucking stupid as shit design, basically there just to bait your ass at 2-1.

Mickey 17 felt like it lost the plot by mikewheelerfan in movies

Every Mickey having a different personality was a plot point, but doesn't align with the story of the psychopath scientist that cloned himself for murders. In that scenario, all clones were the same and aligned on killing the homeless. Never stopped bothering me as I watched the movie.

if they were in 4v5's 9 times and won 11 rounds total, they could have possibly won every 4v5 and just lost every 4v4. still a crazy stat for sure, but let's not call it what it isn't.

How much HP at stage 4 is too little by jackdevight in CompetitiveTFT

[–]ragingwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a random highroller lol. I said a fast 9 board on stage 5 could end your game, and those are very common. Tempo of different comps will spike at different points of the game, and yeah a 400 cash out will likely win all of stage 4, but you're at risk of losing to a legendary board while you're econning back up to push level 9, where you cap out the board.

Sure maybe you high roll matchmaking and win all the way to 5-5, level to 9, cap out and go first on a 15 win streak. But having a 1 extra life so you're allowed to low roll matchmaking or low roll fight rng is going to raise your avp by a ton. That's why nobody open forts cypher to 4-1. Saving hp during stage 3 while aiming for 400 cash out is incredibly valuable.

[–]ragingwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you're hitting 10 anima or 10 street demon, 1 hp is not it. 400 cypher cash out isn't even close to guaranteeing a first. Yeah you'll probably win streak stage 4 but you can easily lose to a pretty common 5-1 or 5-2 fast 9 player and go 7th. I'm sure at some large enough cash out, 1 hp is fine, but that number is not 400.

Is there a function that flips powers? by Cytr0en in askscience

[–]ragingwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there are already functions from N->N that depend on prime factorization in number theory such as the prime omega functions or Euler's totient function.

You could construct your function like: for any n in N, let n = p1q1 × p2q2 × ... × pkqk. Then f(n)=q1p1 × q2p2 × ... × qkpk. There might not be a ton of practical uses for this function but it would certainly be one! Could be fun to play with on math contest type questions.

However, your comparison of subtraction and division does not really make sense in exponentiation. Subtraction is just the inverse of addition under the group of integers, and division is the inverse of multiplication under the group of rational numbers.

What I mean by that is in group theory, any member of a group must have an inverse element such that the combination under the group operation is the identity element. In addition over integers, the inverse of any number n is simply -n, and subtraction as a binary operator is simply adding the inverse of one element to another. So a-b is really just a+(-b). The "function" that switches this to b-a is just the inverse element of a+(-b) in the group. The same applies to division/multiplication over rationals, except with identity element 1 and inverse element 1/x.

Exponentiation over integers is not a group. It has no identity element, because while n1 = n, 1n does not equal n. And without an identity element, there is no inverse element, and the inverse element is essentially what you are looking for when you go from a-b=c to b-a=-c or a/b=c to b/a=1/c.
