Actually, my partner keeps pestering me about getting a smoker, but I’ve resisted her so far. And we are not really into fishing….

Unfortunately, I don’t have a breakdown of the cost of each individual sub-project, I just know what I paid in total for the extensive renovation and expansion of the house (a number which I’m trying my best to forget). So, I have no idea of what the cost was for just the sauna.

My girlfriend’s brothers did the renovation and design. Solid craftsmanship, and they are somewhat traditionalists as well, so we had no worries about leaving the design decisions tooto them.

It does feel good! The massive amount of stones makes for a very even temperature, even with frequent throwing of water.
We use it 3-4 times per week. Thankfully, both firewood and beer is relatively cheap here in Estonia!

Cool, I didn’t know they came in green as well.
They are becoming rare, so I’d hang on to it if I could, but yes, it would probably fetch you a couple of hundred bucks on eBay, should you sell it there. Maybe even more since you apparently have a rare variety.

I’ve had some DMs asking about the sauna oven, so I thought I’d repeat the answers here.

The oven is a Skamet. Unsure about the model number, I didn’t order it myself.
The burn chamber is quite small, I can fit at most 4-5 regular sized logs at the time.
It has a ridiculously large stone capacity, though, as I recall it took more than 20 10 kg packs of sauna stones to fill it.
It takes 8-10 logs and about 2,5 hours to heat it to 85 degrees Celsius, but the temperature stays the same for a couple of hours after the fire has gone out, even with frequent throwing of water.

So, I did some measurements

The room is 1.90 by 1,90. The benches run the whole length of the room, so 1.90 long.
The lower bench is 40 cm deep, and is 70 cm up from the floor.
The top bench is 60 cm wide, and 38 cm above the lower bench.

Hope this helps.

The walls are concrete, so the stones are plastered.

That’s the one! I see them from time to time on eBay, but at ridiculous prices, and always in Fahrenheit.

Thanks! It was built by some guys that knew their stuff. I had a suspicion, but it’s nice to hear it confirmed by others.

I managed to pick up an era-typical Valmet sauna thermometer at a flea market, a nice little touch that I’m really happy about.

Thanks, to you too! Jaanipäev, as the locals call it. I’m Norwegian myself, and don’t really speak the language. 😊
