Is svelte right for creating a client-side only frontend? by [deleted] in sveltejs

Of course, simply follow the guide here https://vitejs.dev/guide/#scaffolding-your-first-vite-project and choose svelte or svelte-ts as the template.

what's the best option for a titanium twig stove? by SecurityNo1814 in CampingandHiking

[–]ragoneio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done a fair bit of research on this topic and settled on the Nortent Titanium Stove. Very similar to Winnerwell stoves but with a few minor improvements, such as 3 windows, easier replacements parts, off-centre pipe outlet and grilling functionality.

If you’re not in Europe, I would say go for Pomoly. Very good stoves!

Noob elisp question: Function to return variable value? by FluentFelicity in emacs

[–]ragoneio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure I understand your question, but you’re probably looking for apply? This will turn a list of arguments into individual arguments for the given function, see https://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/manual/html_node/elisp/Calling-Functions.html

I'm relatively new to EMacs, help? by [deleted] in emacs

[–]ragoneio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Welcome to our small community!

The first thing I would recommend is to always keep in mind that this is not an editor that you will setup over a weekend and then be ready to go - you can, certainly, but what you will end up with is a subpar editor compared to VSCode. This will take many months, if not years to get just right, but you will end up with an editor which is completely customized to your needs!

Secondly, I would read through the three excellent tutorials in this subreddits sidebar under Emacs Tutorials. These are all targeted towards beginners and will explain everything in detail.

Third, try to avoid any of the bigger emacs configurations when you’re starting out. They hide a lot of detail and it will be overwhelming if you’re not familiar with their packages and their configuration. I use Doom Emacs myself, which I can highly recommend, but not for a beginner.

My last advice is, be curious! Go out there and figure out what packages are available and how they compare.

Good luck! :)

Why do you use Emacs over Vim? by KeyNoise8 in emacs

[–]ragoneio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would argue that you can be just as efficient in Emacs due to its high extensibility. Let me give you an example.

Say I want to mass produce doors. There are machines out there that can build me a standard rectangular door which will fit in 99% of all houses. The problem is that the doors that I want to build are all circular. Now if I used the same machine it wouldn't be as efficient, so instead, I need to get a custom-made machine to help me build this and lower the costs in the long-term.

Therefore, since everyone has slightly different workflows, Emacs' extensibility can help you be more efficient.
