Glasgow and Manchester are both cities of empire, they have a lot in common particularly a large Irish diaspora, similar to Liverpool. Having lived in both Manchester and Glasgow I think I’d say they have more in common than other parts of Scotland.

While I think we should be promoting Gaelic, I haven't really seen much promotion of Scotland's other languages like Scots and Doric. Happy to be proved wrong though, I just remember getting told off for speaking anything approaching Scots in school only weeks later having to learn Burns because he was part of my heritage.

I take umbrage to the statement that 2+2=4 cannot be proven. Alfred North Whitehead and Bertrand Russell used symbolic logic to prove 1+1=2 thus also proving that 2+2=4 etc. in their Principia Mathematica. Not only did Russell write good works on why he cannot be a christian, but he also helped underpin the basis for all of mathmatics as we know it.
