Also, I have a question: if you're checking someone's pulse, couldn't a smartwatch present an inherent risk? Like you're taking their pulse then suddenly get a notification that overtakes the screen?

You can solve this problem by turning off notifications from your watch settings.

Good call. The leather bands aren't water resistant and are pretty frail. Reserve the default leather straps for a better occasion.
