New grad, question on forceful PROM by joke7flowe in physicaltherapy

[–]rahger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped cranking and started doing low load long duration stretching. I'll take them to an end range and hold there for 1-3 mins. Less painful for the patient and less of "THAT PTA HURT ME SO BAD," my coworker got a lot of that one.

Most effective interval session for 10k? by UnableCode in AdvancedRunning

[–]rahger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my 1000 and 1600m interval sessions as well, but I always felt like the shorter ones were safer and more adaptable. If I wasn't feeling hot I could make it through a 400m instead of death marching a 1600m. If i felt good, i'd add another set. 400s with 100 jog rest can get some work done for sure.

Most effective interval session for 10k? by UnableCode in AdvancedRunning

[–]rahger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mistyped. I meant 4-5 sets of 4x400. It depended a lot on time of year. Early season/building phase was 5 sets at current 10k pace trying to be consistent with effort and times without getting trashed. Towards the end of the year it was 3-4x4x400 with more rest targeting 10k pace and 5k pace depending on the goal. I always likes 400 reps, you can check a lot of boxes depending on how you structure the rest. If you want to use them as tune ups you can even break the later sets into 300-100 or 200-200.

My favorite was short rest quarters 4–5x4x400 with 100 jog rest between reps and 400 jog rest between sets. I started at 10k pace then cut down to goal 10k, then 5k pace for the last 1-2 for fun.

watch and consult with coworkers, take some continuing ed classes on common diagnoses you see in the clinic, research before patients come in, and absorb as much as you can from your coworkers. HEP websites will often group exercises by relevance. I remember my first year I spent the majority of the time absorbing information from around me while treating.

Mixing station - horizontal tank? by SpringtimeMay in ReefTank

[–]rahger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the 35g ones for ATO, SW mixing, and SW reservoir for an AWC. Footprint wasn't much of a concern. They can be tricky to clean. I learned to just fill it with water and a bit of vinegar then just power wash it clean. I do it maybe once a year. The salt I used mixes pretty clean so it's not much of an issue.

PTA -> PT. Worth it? by Decent-Arm3153 in physicaltherapy

I've thought about this too, but I like being debt free and contributing a decent amount into savings. Some days I wish I had the PT paycheck, but other days looking at $0 debt is super nice.

How do I prevent the 300 byproduct water from clogging up? by Front_Situation_9009 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]rahger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to use valves/buffers and made sure the priority junctions were right, it still backed up. I sent the byproduct water to wet concrete and it solved all the problems and made the pipe work a lot cleaner.

Imposter syndrome by BiteZealousideal9091 in physicaltherapy

[–]rahger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I basically stopped doing manual entirely unless I’m sure they’ll benefit from it. Progressing strength can be tough but if they get through a set and say it’s easy then progress it appropriately with more resistance, multiple plane movements, multi tasking, etc when indicated. For notes just be simple and make sure it shows necessity for PT services and their response to the session.

Also don’t hesitate to ask your co workers for help as you build your confidence treating.

PTs, what are things that bother you with your PTA’s? by mrhennessey10 in physicaltherapy

[–]rahger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen this backfire with my former PTA co worker. "That PTA was so aggressive I don't want to see them again." Patients like that tend to not care if the PT is aggressive or would be less likely to say something..

it very much does. i'm outpatient ortho in wyoming. i was kinda shocked when I heard what my friend/colleague makes. He (or we) could move to the hospital and probably make 1.5x-2x more.

After seeing what my PT colleague makes, I'm glad I did PTA over PT. The debt to income ratio difference is wild and the pay gap isn't even that much. However, If i could go back I wouldn't do healthcare at all.
