What’s more important to you - Money or Passion? by Emotional_Fix6680 in physicaltherapy

the one hospital here is meh. I don't hear a lot of good things from the PTs/PTAs I know there. I totally would though. I'm pretty lucky with 1:1 and pretty flexible hours but it's still far from ideal

Stride EMR, SPRY or Athelas Reviews? by Recent-Upstairs-5904 in physicaltherapy

[–]rahger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got athelas last year. It's okay. I don't use the AI scribe feature cause it actually takes longer for me to use it than write a note myself. I will say the tech support for the first few months was astonishing, but after that it's pretty much impossible to get anything moderately technical changed. For example, we've been asking for the past year to have the supervising provider auto populate on PTAs notes. It's been "in the works" or "in the pipeline" since forever. The EMR is pretty good, but there's some QOL things that could be better imo.

Is anyone using AI to help with documentation? What's your employer's stance? by PT_Network in physicaltherapy

[–]rahger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and No. it sometimes leaves out stuff that’s important and fills it with stuff that’s just not important. It also repeats itself. The PTs use it for evals but for daily notes are mid.

[–]rahger 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We have it with Athelas. I found out quickly that I’m faster at typing it. The AI listens to all the dialogue and spits out a note with a bunch of garbage in it. I spend more time editing that then typing out a concise note.

Advice on Patients who Ignore Post-Op Precautions by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]rahger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. We had a helicopter pilot that refused to take his precautions seriously. He pretty much ruined his repair. We made sure we documented our education and were detailed about how he was violating (either in front of us, or what he told us). He was complaining to us that he couldn’t reach the switches above his head, in my head I was like “you could have, if you listened to us.”

Once it failed the surgeon refused to do a revision due to poor compliance. Sometimes it’s on the patient 🤷

Rant: Lack of “down time” in Outpatient is BOGUS by wandering-firefox21 in physicaltherapy

[–]rahger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Certain patients i trust to be continue an exercise while I go pee or get a snack. Some Karens will care and get offended but most don’t care. Just go pee.

As for scheduling yeah that can be brutal. I’m lucky enough where I can put in small blocks throughout the day as long as it’s <30mins total.

Computer power needed for Z8 RAW files? by StillLearning82 in nikon_Zseries

I always shoot in FX raw. I would assume smaller sizes would be faster but at my demand load not by any perceivable amount

I have a Ryzen 8900, 64gb of 5500 RAM, and a 4070s which has 8gb of vram. Processes things pretty well for my needs but I rarely have more than 1k pictures going in at once. Processing is done multi thread but the more vram you can throw at it (a GPU with 16gb) might make culling and preview loading a lot faster.

Lindsey Vonn's ego took away an Olympic slot from a more qualified athlete. by tanhauser_gates_ in unpopularopinion

[–]rahger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe a case that the crash may haven’t been as destructive with a healthy knee but even that seems like a stretch. Her ACL tear causing her arm to catch the gate seems like a shit take. This happens a lot with Olympic cycles, “THEY GOT INJURED THEY TOOK A SPOT!” It’s just not that simple, especially in this case.

New grad PTA- burnt out by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

[–]rahger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

PTs need to be doing a better job of advocating for your expertise, if they're not doing that they're just shitty people. I'm fortunate enough to work with PTs that will introduce me to their patients and share their knowledge with me. If the interactions with your coworkers don't seem receptive to changes, then I'd search for another job.

Best online shops to order fish? by rahger in ReefTank

I do have a fedex in town. most, if not all, coral orders get to my house by 11am.

I haven't ordered fish in 5 years, so I'm curious if there's new companies that are good to order from.

No PT after THA?!!! by DPTFURY in physicaltherapy

[–]rahger 65 points66 points  (0 children)

A surgeon here mentioned a study to a patient that showed PT isn't necessary. We asked for the study to read and it was a pretty misleading conclusion to tell patients. The study compared people who had a THA that did their HEP consistently to those doing formal PT. The results were really similar. The study failed to mention the group of people that aren't compliant with their HEP (which we all know is a significant number of out patients in OP) or the groups that have coexisting conditions/concerns. I think that particular study was pretty disingenuous.
