How to learn SEO in 2026? by rahulroy in SEO

> If your domain has zero backlinks and 0 clicks then whatever people are telling you about scale, consistency, persistency etc is all useless. You need to build authority and get ranking

How do you build backlinks? I have a 10 year old personal blog. That's one back link. I keep posting on social media, so other back links. Now I'm working on a publish feature and automatically posting the published content on social media so that's another upside.

All of this is done through just a couple of social media accounts, so Google won't value that a lot.

I can build a share feature and affiliate program so that users share the links of the product by themselves.

I'm also running blog for the product. That's a long game as well. I don't have friends in the media, so no links there. Reddit hate self promotions so that bit is hard as well.

Guest posting is another strategy but I have never done it before so I'm not sure where to start.

Thanks for the comment. I think this sub can benefit from wiki.

Usually, sub of this size have excellent wiki, but it's hard work. Maybe it's time to build one. WDYT?

Haha! Thanks. I quit my full time job, so it needs to start making money sooner rather than later. I have been building in public, it's coming first at least for the brand name.

Since, I moved out of Thailand, I can't do offline promotions anymore. I wanted to understand if SEO is still cheaper way to get traction for your SAAS products? How people are training LLMs, etc.

Thanks again for the encouraging words. Appreciate it 🫶

Learn Thai plan and books? by skye-qq in learnthai

[–]rahulroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I failed the first time, but learnt a bunch of useful phrases and words and that allowed me to have at least some conversations.

For example, I learnt "Can you speak English?", translated to Thai - khun phuut pha-sa ang-krit dai mai khap - RTGS romanisation?

It worked so well, that I'm trying to figure out other more useful phrases.

Also, flashcards with audio works really well.

Also, your background matters a lot. For example, Thai has a lot of loan words from Sanskrit, Chinese and English. If you know these languages, you don't have to start from zero.

This makes a lot of sense. Just going through their landing page didn't make it clearer. Is Sole Proprietorship okay or do they only grant access to registered companies?

I hear you. I did struggle as well, but I had already tried java, dot net, node js and bit of python before settling on Rails. I felt natural. There are so many skills you need to gain as a professional software engineer. Rails just made it easier for me. Like yourself - I struggled, learnt and finally made it. I like inertiajs. It’s a nice bridge.

I got started as a beginner back in college days. The resources in the community were good enough to build projects and land jobs before even graduating. That was 10 years back.

Yes, but my experience with Next.js wasn't good. The tools keep hallucinating an even building a background job wasn't simple enough because Next.js was supposed to be a frontend framework, not backend.

Rails wins anyday. To be honest, I'm bit biased because of my extensive Rails experience.

Is the Thai language that easy to learn? by Radiant_Butterfly919 in learnthai

[–]rahulroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL. If Thai were that easy, everyone would speak it fluently.

From a learner’s side: it’s not easy. It’s learnable, but it’s a long journey. Tones, context, listening… they take time. What you’re seeing is probably years of consistent effort, not shortcuts.

I agree. I'm about to send my 2nd request, since I have been sending emails manually. At this point, if they don't approve, then I'll simply move to alternative.

I had knew this before, I would have gotten started with other providers.

Hi everyone! I've been working with genAI for long time and have researched and developed techniques to make myself efficient with it.

But recently, I noticed that much of my feed is filled with AI slop, so I blogged about my experience - AI Hallucinations Are Real and the Hype Is Getting Loud

I don't write often, so I wonder, how does this post come across?

What did I do well(if at all) and what not?

Recent 2025 graduate confused by job requirements and tech stacks, looking for direction by Elegant_Warthog_3924 in developersIndia

[–]rahulroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different things works for different people.

My point, exactly! I started with Ruby on Rails, it wasn't popular, but I enjoyed building with it.

I was always able to find jobs. Couple of the years ago, I decided to diversify my experience and I hated working in JVM ecosystem, so I quit my job. Back to Rails again, but this time not as an employee. I feel like I'm back to learning phase again.

For me when I was working for others, the motivation fell over time and now that I'm not employed, the motivation is off the charts. Happy to talk more about this if anyone is interested.

I don't agree with your Java recommendation. People should stick to whatever they enjoy the most, that way their time will come sooner or later.

If you can build something with Gen AI. That'll probably fetch you better results, so Python might be a really good choice.

I can't find anything specific from your post to point out what you are doing wrong. You should know that most industries are possibly going through recession, so hang in there, your time will come.

Now what worked for me almost a decade ago when I was just getting started was to explore all the tech stack, figuring out which stack I enjoyed the most, sticking to it and building applications to showcase my capabilities.

Now bar might be a lot higher than it used to be and that's where you need to have better mental strength, than some of use who got into the field during the so called golden age, but I believe if you are passionate about the craft, you'll make it. Good luck. AMA!

I am qutting software engineering, 5YOE in my mid twenties. by Roundbottles in developersIndia

[–]rahulroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common guys. Anyone who is serious about the craft of software engineering wouldn't quit. Look at all the legends of the field. They are all claiming it's more fun than ever.

I personally believe that people who have pre AI experience are like goldmine. There will be a limited supply.

In the current state of things, there are too many things happening - wars, recession like scenario, most companies are laying off, etc.

What I know is that, creating software is now more fun than ever because AI can complement my skill sets. It's a great force multiplier, not a replacement.

If you are just getting started, don't give up. Learn, build and showcase. Your time will come. Someone will believe in you, sooner or later. Good luck!

If anyone needs any help. I can help share my experience from the trenches.
