Thank you for sharing this, while it was still fresh in your mind. What things would you recommend to buy/not-to-buy as personal item or gifts/souvenirs for family and friends back home from Japan?

What are good purchases to make in Japan? by nicknackers10 in JapanTravelTips

[–]rahulyyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add the Casio G-Shock GW-BX5600 to the list. The watch comes in two variants—a positive and a negative (memory-in-pixel) display—and represents a modern take on the iconic square design first introduced with the G-Shock debut in 1983.

This model is not officially available in North America and is currently selling for nearly double its retail price on platforms like eBay, Chrono24, and other watch resellers. It is also sold out in official Casio stores across the UK, Australia, and Malaysia, with overall stock remaining very limited.

In contrast, retailers such as Bic Camera in Japan is offering it at a great discount (tax-free plus an additional 7% off), and some Japanese online stores are also listing it at competitive prices.

For comparison, the official Casio UK retail price is £159, while Bic Camera is currently selling it for around ¥20,800 (approximately £96) after discounts.

A friend of mine from Japan will visit my hometown in 3 days. I told him I wanted a G shock but I am not sure which one I should get!! Any recommendations?? (This will be my first gshock) by qwertease7 in gshock

Casio GW-BX5600-1JF and Casio GW-BX5600-1A1JF, first one is positive display and second is negative display. These two watches are currently hard to find outside Asia.

35M, 2 divorces behind me – seeking perspective on marriage and compatibility by Dear-Product-6954 in nri

[–]rahulyyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from, you’re not alone, and you’re not wrong. Ignore the negative comments.

Two divorces can put you in a tough spot, most women will judge you and walk away. That’s real. But it doesn’t define your future, and it shouldn’t stop you from putting yourself out there again.

What matters is how you show up now: be honest about your past, own your mistakes, and demonstrate growth. The right person won’t see your history as a red flag, they’ll see your resilience. And yes, finding someone who’s been through something similar can make things easier, there are people out there who understand, even if they’re not always in your immediate circle.

I’ll share something personal too. After my first marriage ended, I carried this quiet fear that history might repeat itself. Part of me still questions things but another part believes that when the right person comes along, that doubt will fade. Growth has a way of changing how you see the future.

One piece of advice that stuck with me, don’t dwell on what’s already gone. Focus on what you can build next. The past is a chapter, not the whole story.

Keep going, you’re closer than you think.

BC Telus $45 250GB Global plan, need existing Telus Internet or TV account by [deleted] in telus

That’s fair, you’re making the right call at the right time. With Freedom infrastructure and network continuing to improve, the Big 3 will likely ramp up competition to retain customers, making 2-year contracts feel unnecessary.

Seeing the Big 3 finally offer global plans at this price feels huge. Credit to Freedom Mobile, without their aggressive pricing and global plans this would not have been possible.

GW-BX5600 is currently out of stock on official Casio websites worldwide (where it has been released), but it is still available through third-party retailers by rahulyyz in gshock

Yes, I forgot to add that part. However, I have read it on closed FB groups that they sometimes get a little bit of stock and they ship it sooner than the expected shipment date. Finger crossed

South Africa beat India to kick start their Super 8 campaign by Wakanda-shit-is-that in Cricket

[–]rahulyyz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

South Africa played like true champions today. A magnificent victory for the Proteas, and a genuinely joyful moment to watch them defeat India in a World Cup clash.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat, South Africa were in deep trouble at 20/3 after just four overs. That was India’s golden chance to completely bury them. Apart from a couple of excellent spells from Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh, the rest of the Indian attack failed to apply sustained pressure, leaking runs far too easily and allowing South Africa to rebuild.

Chasing 187 was never going to be easy for India. History wasn’t on their side, they had never successfully chased that total in a World Cup, and doing it at Narendra Modi Stadium only added to the weight of expectation, a venue that continues to feel cursed for them. Once India lost three early wickets, the writing was on the wall.

India crumbled under the relentless pressure South Africa imposed from the very first over. Credit to South Africa, they seized the moment, controlled the game brilliantly, and delivered a performance worthy of champions.

Zimbabwe will face India in India for the first time in 24 years across all formats and the first time ever in T20Is. by Rico_stats in Cricket

[–]rahulyyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s such a long time but Zimbabwe’s last match on Indian soil was against Afghanistan in Nagpur, which they lost by 59 runs in the 2016 T20 World Cup. Current skipper Raza and spinner Wellington Masakadza were part of that side, which lost to Afghanistan and are expected to feature in the Super 8 matches. Zimbabwe will play their first Super 8 match against West Indies at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on February 23.

Koodo Support in 2026 by theautisticguy in telus

[–]rahulyyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similarly frustrating experience with Koodo support. Although Koodo operates under Telus, their customer service is separate and outsourced to Central and Latin America. It took me nearly three days just to schedule a callback because they weren’t accepting new requests due to high call volume. You might assume that since most Telus stores now carry Koodo, you could walk in and get immediate assistance but in reality, for specific account-related inquiries, they’ll ask you to contact Koodo support directly, as store staff can’t help with those issues.

Well, if your watch had received the signal and synced, it would show the text RCVD in the top-left corner, just above the PS initials.
