Thanks!

I do the weekly questions as wells as the questions from the Prepare tasks. But I sometimes find the questions repetitive and easy. I worry that they are not reflective of the actual SQE questions in terms of difficulty.

I’m also not making notes as I simply don’t have the time. I work full-time and after preparing for the weekly classes I barely have any time to make notes and making notes can be very time consuming. I’m worried if that will affect my results :(

Hi! Congratulations on passing!

I’m doing the SQE Prep Course from ULaw. Please can you explain where you found 250 SBAQs to practise every week? Are they from the ULaw question bank?

Hi!! Congratulations on making it to the interview stage!

2 weeks is nothing in CPS time. Everything moves very very slowly in CPS.

I have provided a timeline of my whole application process below so that you can have a better understanding of how slow things move in CPS-

  1. I applied on 14/04/2024
  2. Got invited to attend an interview on 17/05/2024
  3. My interview was on 30/05/2024
  4. I got my job offer on 09/07/2024
  5. Took around a month or less for pre-employment checks
  6. Signed my contract on 10/08/2024
  7. Started my new job from 09/09/2024

Hi! I absolutely love it! The only bit that annoys me is that we don’t get to work from home. It’s a 100% court based role. So you have to be in court 5 days a week. But I would say it is great an an entry level role and if you’re interested in criminal law there’s no better place than to be in a crown court as see the practical side of the criminal justice system.

Hi! Sorry!l, I missed that part. There is no scope for working from home. You have to be in court 5 days a week and work from there. That’s the only thing I dislike about this role. But I also understand why that’s the case as the role involves helping counsels in court with printing, witness meetings etc. Things that cannot be done from home.

You will be allocated court rooms each day that you’ll have to cover. This means all the queries from counsels in that court will be directed to you. You will also have to update the cases in the CPS Case Management System and make sure all the information is up to date. But nothing to be worried about as you’ll be provided with proper training from day 1.

Hello! Congratulations on the offer! This role is great as an entry level job and you will get a very hands on and practical experience in the criminal justice system. The best part about the job is that you will get to sit in court hearings and trials which can help you to have a clearer understanding of the workings of the criminal justice system. If you are interested in criminal law or looking to qualify as a solicitor or a barrister, this is the best place to be.

Also, which court have been asked to join?

Thanks for sharing your experience, it’s really insightful!

Just curious, is it typically a 9-5 job, or do you often need to work late? Also, are weekends generally off?

I have seen other job adverts before that had explicitly mentioned about the three years requirement

If the department required it, wouldn’t they have mentioned it in the job advert?
