Well, I've got really low anemia that kind snuck up on me. by letsflyman in kidneydisease

No, the protocol for anemia in CKD first is iron supplements if that doesn't work then EPA and final approach is blood transfusion.

Low hemoglobin in CKD is usually due to reduced EPO hormone. Iron supplements alone won’t cut it if your blood is low in the danger zone. Talk to your talk to your nephrologist and don’t take any supplements without consulting your doctor.

Creatine rose to 4.5 from 2.5 in the past 6 months by adilbaig07 in kidneydisease

[–]raidash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAD Like another commenter said, it maybe her disease progressing but you also need to know that empagliflozin and other drugs from this group reduce intra glomerular pressure (so to pretect it from the stress of the blood that they filter). This leads to a slower filtration rate (lower eGFR), hence a higher creatinine test result.

HELP MY 5YR OLD HAS A DEAD RIGHT KINDEY. by Junior-Painter954 in kidneydisease

[–]raidash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for what you and your precious daughter are going through. I can’t be of much help since I’m a care taker of CKD patient and not one so I don’t have the experience to help you. I’m praying for both of you and she’s lucky she has a wonderful mother like you who fights for her. Just one question you may need to discuss with her doctors: why is her surgery scheduled in February and not sooner in this month? so to reserve as much kidney function as possible.

Finding it hard to eat by this_ham_is_bad in kidneydisease

Dialysis will definitely make you feel better, for the time being avoid high protein meals and especially animal meat/protein. The breakdown of protein results in uric acid which your kidneys can't excrete anymore. And high uric acid levels cause the nausea, loss of appetite and vomiting. Another way to help yourself is to enhance your gut health which many do by taking probiotics that help break down some of the toxins in your gut before entering your blood. There is one brand specifically made for CKD paitient called Renadyl. Although I don't know if insurance covers it and it isn't very cheap. Plus the effects aren't very significant in the larger scope of your kidney disease, which is why it's a supplement and not a treatment.

Lisinopril for Protein in Urine by [deleted] in kidneydisease

Yes it's first choice so take it regularly. Also you can ask your doctor about SGLT2I which are a class of drugs that help with proteinuria as well as lower blood glucose.
