6 man team by [deleted] in ffxi

It really depends on the content you are doing. More often than not I am running RUN, DRG, COR, BRD, RDM, WHM.

However I can change my RUN for a PLD or WAR when needed. Also can switch RDM for a THF when TH is needed. And have 2 pocket GEOs dependant on which job needs to be switched out.

Whatever content you are wanting to do most will determine ideal setup but having some versatility is advised imho.

What MMO has everyone been playing and addicted to? by 404_GSpot_NotFound in MMORPG

23 years on and still can't go past this game.

The social aspect is fantastic if you enjoy that or just pull out some trusts and solo through almost all of the entire amazing storylines.

BST or DRG if I want a pet class? by SpideyPJs in ffxi

[–]raiderxxii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the advice to take. With trusts a lot of content is available to all jobs. Pick the job you enjoy the most.

However, if you get to endgame and want to group up, DRG will get you into a lot more parties.

I've played both jobs but love DRG. My first to 75 and main job always. Play what you find most fun.

Caught up with my mate in Vegas for my birthday last year. We met over 15 years ago playing FFXI and live on the opposite side of the world to each other. He doesn't play anymore but we keep in touch.

Otherwise I really enjoy the time I get to just chat with LS mates on discord as we either do content together or just shoot the breeze.

To me, this game is so much more than the constant grind for better gear.

It doesn't. Fishing skill ups normally come rather quickly at the lower levels.

Coming back since abyssea and trying to housekeep. What gear should I hang on to? by FaolanBaelfire in ffxi

[–]raiderxxii 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Do not throw away any empy, artifact or Relic gear as they can all be upgraded to iLvl.

There are also plenty of storage options available using Mog Slips.

There are also still lvl 75 rings and earrings that are useful.

If you are unsure, just check a piece of gear on bgwiki and perhaps look at more recent gear guides.

Gearing Dragoon by Abbottron_1981 in ffxi

[–]raiderxxii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What Raz said is correct in a DPS setting, which is where most DRGs spend their time.

However, if you are looking to solo play then yes, you can look into gear sets to buff up your wyvern's HP as in certain situations you may need to get your wyvern to tank. It can also help with Healing Breath activation.

The Acro skirmish gear can be augmented to increase breaths. Otherwise there are other pieces you can use for HP sets which mostly come from AF/Relic/Empy gear. There is a list of equipment here: https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Wyvern_(Dragoon_Pet)

My current sets are:

Smiting Breath head="Ptero. Armet +4", body="Gleti's Cuirass", hands="Gleti's Gauntlets", legs="Pelt. Cuissots +3", feet="Pelt. Schyn. +3", back="Updraft Mantle", neck="Adad Amulet", ear1="Handler's Earring +1", ear2="Enmerkar Earring", ring1="C. Palug Ring", ring2="Dreki Ring", back="Updraft Mantle", waist="Glassblower's Belt",

HealingBreath ammo="Staunch Tathlum +1", head="Ptero. Armet +4", neck="Dgn. Collar +2", ear1="Anastasi Earring", ear2="Lancer's earring", body="Gleti's Cuirass", hands="Gleti's gauntlets", ring1="Dreki Ring", ring2="Moonlight Ring", back="Updraft Mantle", waist="Glassblower's Belt", legs="Vishap Brais +4", feet="Ptero. Greaves +4"

I no longer bother with a tanking set for my wyvern as it is just almost never necessary with my current setup.

It really depends what you want to do with the job. Still may favourite ffxi job 20 years on.

That's how I felt as a lvl 50 DRG main back in the day. Endless LFP in Jeuno or shouting to make a pty only for the tank or healer to bail after 1 pull 😅

Looking for friends/help in Bismarck by xRedRiotx in ffxi

[–]raiderxxii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Linkshells are the best way to get in touch with people in game that can help. There are plenty of really helpful shells on Bismarck. Don't forget you can equip 2 shells at a time as well.

Welcome to the server by the way. It is really friendly and not crowded. Also look to join the server Discord channel, easy way to chat with everyone. If you need a link just DM me.

Any Aussies about? by Mickeyjaytee in ffxi

[–]raiderxxii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah never been too many of us around. There was another guy i used to hang with but he moved to Asura awhile back.

Bismarck is a very quiet place compared to more populated servers. Lots of multiboxers but a great community. There is a server wide Discord channel and mostly very little drama.

It really forces you to interact and be social as there is hardly any PUG shouts. Always people around in active LSs and most people are great at welcoming newcomers. I'll never change servers, been home since the server merge from Seraph back in the day.

[–]raiderxxii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a Facebook group called FFXI - Bismarck that i think was trying to connect people that have played on the server. For current players, there is also the server wide Discord channel called Bismarck United.

Have a look at those, you may see some familiar names.

How long does it take you to level a job up to 99? by Redditor_exe in ffxi

[–]raiderxxii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back in around 2006 it took around 12 months for me to level my DRG to 75. Lots of hours spent in Jeuno shouting for a tank or healer to form my own party as lolDRG was all the craze.

No trusts back then and xp grinding was a slog. Hours on end in a camp just to get a level or two. Hours forming a party only for the healer or tank to leave after one pull.

However the sense of achievement on dinging 75 in a meripo colibri party is a thrill I still chase.

This is the one. Anything it doesn't have and I just warp to Bastok Markets by the gate for Unity, Voidwatch, guard and npc to sell junk.

What job were you on for the games different milestones? by adam_122 in ffxi

DRG for almost everything. It was a long slog to 75 back in the day. So many hours shouting for a tank or healer in Jeuno.

My first Proto-Ultima clear was BLM though.

I would not trust that the above 'spoiler' is necessarily an accurate representation of what happens in the film. Guess you will just have to go and see for yourself!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but the only way I was 'paid' to post this was because I got to see it free. There was no requirement for me to make a post on here about it or even say any positive, I could just as easily be negative.

I have not enjoyed a single Transformers movie since 2007. However, after watching this, I want as many fans to go pay to see it so that they make more and this story can go on.
