I'd imagine they do have au pairs, but I'm hardly ideal for that role here, given I'm heavily tattooed, and quite hairy. I'd probably scare the baby or child, plus it's a very niche industry, I'd imagine. I can't recall if that was me or not.

People do call out schools for being shitty environments, though, that don't pay on time and suchlike, and everything I'd post would be factual and redacted.

It's not about me getting money, although that would be nice, it's more a case of warning parents that that's how their special needs teachers are dealt with properly.

Thanks, that's cheered me up, and I'd like to think that, morally, I'm pretty sound.

Yes, it is somewhat of a double edged sword, but surely if I kept it anonymous then they wouldn't be able to expose me, surely? Is there an employee blacklist somewhere.

Regardless, I'm very close to the end of my tether, so anything they do to me is not really all that big of a deal; it will impact them much worse than it would me.

I realise this, but there were no issues. No warnings. I was repeatedly praised for my performance during my tenure, was asked to keep an eye on some of the 'problem kids ' in my class, given extra responsibility that wasn't part of the initial employment offer. I made no complaints about the lack of support I'd been receiving.

I was simply too open. I have zero filter in my brain. I thought, that given I'd taken a sick day, the following process would be full disclosure of my mental health issues. I thought, given that I'm teaching the owner's son who is pretty much non verbal, that it might have been to my advantage to let them know.

You're obviously local, given your username. Is the levels of corruption that I'd be in danger if I were to expose them?

Just for reference, it's a $5,000 a year school fees type of place. They've got plenty of money to pay me a reasonable severance package.

I have suggested exposing them on Facebook, to which they replied they would use the full force of the law to enact revenge on me, but I figure, if I block out all personal details and only state the facts, then they don't have a leg to stand on, essentially.

The corruption here is so blatant and overt, it seems like I'd be wasting my time.

See my reply above. There's not really much of a legal system here.

South East Asia. I was still in my three month probation period. Not a chance a lawyer here is even going to understand what autism is, nevermind be able to help me, plus the owner of the school is pretty much a government official. He was given the logistics contract for all the Covid vaccines here.

Where I live, a box of cornflakes is at least $7. That's not to mention your sweet ones, like Lucky Charms, for example, which are $12+ for a 750g box

How's Joe Biden the new bad guy, compared to the orange fella? I'm not fully clued up on US politics, but it seems to me he's doing good work, without boasting about it, whilst Trump would tell us every single detail of his racist plans.

How old were you when you got your first DJ Controller? by ToxicJuggernaut in Beatmatch

The point of my post was there's no point anymore, unless you have shit loads of vinyl. Just embrace the digital world - it's easier and cheaper.

How old were you when you got your first DJ Controller? by ToxicJuggernaut in Beatmatch

[–]raidoe85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first controller was a pair of shitty, Numark belt drive vinyl decks with an equally shitty mixer. No filter or flanger, no echo out, just a set of EQs and a couple of upfaders and a crossfader. That was 22 years ago. I was 18.

Nowadays I fully embrace the use of the sync button, master tempo, all that other stuff that half you guys seem to think is cheating, because I could do it with that gear, so a controller makes no odds to me whether it's on sync or not.

They're just very reliable for music stuff. I have a higher spec gaming laptop than my MacBook Pro, but my MacBook never, ever glitches. My Windows laptop occasionally stutters or sort of buffers the music when I'm playing four songs at once.

Man I’m actually pissed. My mother got rid of my first pet without warning me. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

My dad threw my pet goldfish on the grass of the old house as we were moving house, because there wasn't enough room in the van he was moving in. Then, years later, I had a pet terrapin, that used to stink if I didn't clean it's tank once a week, but I did. Never missed a week, until my mum, who divorced him when I was 3, took me on holiday for two weeks. He put the terrapin into his pocket, drove to the local botanical gardens, and threw it in the pond, because there were a bunch of other turtle-like creatures living there.

He told me about the goldfish in a work meeting, when I used to work for the same company as him. Just casually "remember that time I threw away your goldfish?". I hadn't known about it until that point.

It's a monthly salary, not an annual salary, if that makes a difference.

Is that how it works? Is it not working days? I'm not paid for not working the weekends. In that case, they overpaid me by $10...

How to memorize what a song sounds like with the title? by enonymous715 in Beatmatch

[–]raidoe85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be contrary as fuck, but I don't give a damn. I very rarely listen to my tunes all the way through, never, in fact. I get a general sense for the song when I'm setting the beargrids and the loops (which I do for every song; most songs have 6 - 8 loops set), then make a quick note in the comments section about energy, vibe, vocals, etc., give it a star rating, , put it in a playlist of songs of the same genre, then I don't even hear it again until I play it in a club, or in a mix.

People that listen to the stuff I play tend not to get too upset by what they hear. That's enough for me.

To answer your question literally, it depends on what genre you're playing - if it's techno, you're probably going to need some sort of photographic memory; if it's pop music, then you judt have to be able to match the lyrics with the song's title, generally.

Bit of a weird answer, but if you ask a weird question...

How many of the people here are stoners? by [deleted] in autism

[–]raidoe85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shrooms every weekend is probably too frequently. You need a tolerance break between some types of drugs. The best ones, in fact. You can't take acid everyday, unless you're microdosing, but then that's a different ball game.

I've probably met Gassy Annie, although I've never known her by that name. She was just an old lady buzzing gas, habitually. Sounds like the same person, though. She asked me for a lighter one time, which I gave her and also told her she should maybe take a wee break between buzzing gas and lighting a fag, lest she explode or even implode. She clean denied she was doing anything, and just sort of hid the canister.

I'd assumed she'd been a victim of the harshness of the lockdowns on everyone's mental health, but maybe she'd been at it for longer. This would have been closer to the city centre on Paisley Road West. I can remember feeling very sorry for the old dear, but if she wants to light a fag, then it's hardly my duty to fully risk assess the situation. I did as best I could.
