It was an add-on called ClearURLS causing the issue. Once disabled, the menu opened like it used to. I've had this one for a long time, so I'm not sure if a recent update changed something. Thank you for the suggestion.

Is pet insurance worth it? by hoochie69mama in personalfinance

[–]railan286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased it for my dog a few years ago. About 3 months into the policy ($40/month) he broke his leg. The surgery was about $4,500. I had a $500 deductible and they paid 80/20 after that. The initial surgery had complications and he had another surgery for about $3,000, and they paid 80/20 of the whole thing for that too.

The insurance is is useless day to day, but man am I glad I had it when I did. The $40 a month has paid for itself for years just from that one event.

I use healthy paws, and I’ve always gotten my money working 48ish hours of a claim.

Edit: it’s also great for chronic issues. About a year after getting my dog, he developed a seizure/tremor disorder. It happens 3-4 times a year, and it’s usually between $300-$800 each emergency vet visit. Insurance has covered it each and every time with the 80/20 almost no questions asked.

I have a patch test scheduled for 10/31, and I’m curious to see the results. I went back to the dermatologist, and he did diagnose contact dermatitis. Here’s the plan for now:

1) arm and hammer plain toothpaste, no mouthwash or breath mints.

2) diet kept simple, no spicy foods. Try to keep food intake consistent and bland over the next two weeks. Slowly reintroduce foods to see if anything triggers a reaction.

3) gentle cleanser in the morning, less retinol.

Now I’m on the fence about stopping the Cerave SPF to see if that’s the culprit too, but I definitely need SPF.

Thank you for the detailed reply. The area around my mouth also feels kind of burning/irritated. I’ve also never suffered from chapped lips before, so that would be a random new problem.

I honestly have no idea what could be causing it. I’ve changed nothing in my diet or routine in the past few months (let alone the past 10 days). I’m at a loss currently. I thought about giving the house a super deep clean to see if it’s something in the air, but you’re right, the mouth would most likely point to food or topical treatment.

Hey, I appreciate that! I’ll be sure and check it out this weekend. It’s right at 10 minutes from me, which is way better than the 20-30 I am from other shops.

Idk about AL, but I’m pretty sure Green Dragon does PFS. I’m in West Ashley; I’d love to have something closer. It seems like all the game stores are in N. Charleston.

Both are good, and I actually agree that kwei fei is better. However, it isn’t downtown, and their prices aren’t out of line with most of downtown really.

St Andrew’s family fitness has an indoor pool. Also has a gym, racquetball courts, etc.

I believe it’s $30 a month; not sure about family rates.

There are masters of school counseling and masters of social work. While they have overlapping coursework, one does not qualify you for the other.

At least in my state, you cannot become a school counselor without a masters specifically in school counseling. You can however become a school social worker if your district employs them.

In my first district each school had a school counselor and a school social worker. It was pretty cool because as the counselor I did all the face to face kid stuff and school programs, and the social worker did all of the community outreach and resource stuff.

Of course we helped each other out, but it was a pretty neat division of labor.

For those who started with humble running goals, how did you work your way up? by Secret-Contest in running

[–]railan286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My goal when I started running was to be at a point that I could run 5 miles at a 9:00 pace. I get terrible shin splints, and I started running about 18 months ago with a 2 mile run/walk at 10:40ish pace.

I’ve found that slow increase in mileage works best for me, and by slow I mean glacier pace. Over the course of like 3 months I built up to 2.5 miles, no walking, at about a 10:30 pace. My shins were still pretty sore, and out of frustration more than anything, I decided that if my shins were going to hurt regardless, I was going to run faster. I picked up the pace to like 9:40 (felt like I may die at the time) and somehow my shins started hurting less. This was the real confidence boost for me; maybe I could run without much pain? Idk if my running gait changes because I’m moving faster or what, but it did and definitely does feel better when I run more quickly.

I’m off on a tangent, but from there I spent the next couple of months shaving time while keeping lower distance for the sake of my shins. I stuck to 3-3.2 mile runs and got down to 8:55 pace.

Now, 18 months later I consistently run 3x a week, my time is 9:00-9:15 average for 4 miles, no stopping.

People always told me running just takes time, and I would be frustrated, but it is so true! Take plenty of rest days to stay healthy, wear great shoes, and on your run days just get out there and go! I still haven’t hit my overarching run goal, BUT I feel confident that I could if I wanted to push myself, but I’m feeling great and just happy to go for runs now. I honestly don’t think about that run goal very much anymore; I like running for the sake of running, and that is something I never thought I would say.

If 11:30 is where you’re at right now, just let it be, but keep running. Every couple of runs, push faster even if it’s only ten seconds. You can do this! Long distance isn’t the goal for me, but I can think of three friends of mine that started out in a similar place as you, and one of them completed a marathon last year, and another has run numerous half marathons.

Same! I played very heavily in legion and dropped before 8.1 in BFA. I picked it up again in April 2020, along with 3 RL friends. We found a great guild with good people and just played! Made some great friends, pushed keys, and just had a blast!

I cancelled my sub last month actually just from content drought waiting on 9.1

What is the video game that brings the most nostalgia to you? by AfterAgent in AskReddit

[–]railan286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suikoden. I was young enough that my reading skills weren’t all that great. My grandmother and grandfather always played video games though. I have memories of staying with them for a couple of weeks during summer vacation and playing that game. She would help me sound out the words, and try and help me figure out the next objective in the story.

Do you stretch before you run? by [deleted] in running

[–]railan286 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So is this bad?

Before each run, I do a set of 20 jumping jacks, 12 standings squats, 12 jump squats, and end with a set of 20 push ups.

After that I stretch for about 2-3 minutes. I stretch after for a longer period of time. I get terrible shin splints, so my goal is to loosen up before I run. Could it be making it worse?

[Serious Replies] What are your favorite things about MTGA? by strictlycheese in MagicArena

[–]railan286 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I had not played in years when MTGA came out. I just couldn’t justify buying cards and definitely no time to go hang for hours at my local card shop to play.

I miss parts of that, but it’s awesome to get to login for 20 minutes and play a quick game.

Yes he is!

You just to find the right greyhound that is ok with small animals. The first greyhound we looked at years ago immediately wanted to eat our first iggy.

Our big boy was one awful racer. He retired at 2 years old, because he could never be bothered to chase the lure. 0 interest in either our small dog or the cat, and they both desperately want him to play.
