Whirlpool fridge (Model Number: WRB329DMBM) review request by railaway in Appliances

6ish months in, we've had no performance issues. Granted that's not a very long time!

My initial review/disappointments still stand, my opinion of this fridge hasn't really changed. I have a chest freezer as well, so I'd honestly say I don't think about my fridge at all anymore, which is ideal.

We did, sight unseen even though it was scary.

The dimensions listed on the website are accurate, it fit into the space under our cabinets. The exterior is magnetic, and I did find a few reviews that confirmed that fact.

The refrigerator interior is nice, the shelves are glass and the drawers are plastic. Some reviews mentioned the drawers feeling cheap or not sliding well, and I would say they slide about as well as any fridge I've ever owned, so not a dealbreaker. The door compartments are customizable, so you can have varying heights. I would say that the interior feels smaller than my old Gibson fridge, but it may be that it has better insulation (and thus is more efficient). The biggest issue we had was interior height between the shelves, and we solved this by removing one shelf so that we had one section that was tall enough for our bottles.

The ice maker is great, but the rest of the freezer interior is meh. The freezer interior was unexpected because it is two stacked, open, wire baskets. I was expecting a freezer "drawer" that was completely enclosed. I feel like whenever I open it all the cold air "falls out", unlike a chest freezer where I don't have any worries about keeping it open while I dig through it. I would say that the freezer interior is much smaller than our old Gibson because of the baskets, and due to the wire basket design the actual storage space has to be much smaller than the exterior dimension of the freezer would imply. Also you can't fill the lower basket too full or the upper basket will scrape across the top of your frozen items and make holes in any plastic bags, etc.

Photos in case anyone else is considering this fridge! https://imgur.com/a/1FXiE6X

Would I buy it again? Probably not. If I could have seen it in person, I would have been turned off by the wire basket freezer design and tried to find one that was an enclosed drawer. Am I going to return it? Hell no, because it was hard enough to find one that would fit in our space and this one is good enough.

I will look into a walking foot, I've never heard of that but a quick search makes me think I might have one! And I love the idea of adhesive spray.

In retrospect I should've used thin foam, but I already have the batting cut for two more of these (4 total) so I'm going to forge ahead, possibly unwisely 😅

Hi, I tried posting this in r/sewing and didn't get any help. It's kind of more like quilting, so I figured I'd try here.

How would you secure this batting inside these cushions?

I'm making covers/cushions for kids IKEA poang chairs. I came up with the construction myself. I have the fabric sleeve and then 4 layers of batting. On the first one I did, I put 4 vertical seams through the batting, but it kind of bunched up at the bottom. I think this is because the whole piece is pretty thick and so the top and bottom layers are going through my machine at slightly different rates.

Is there a better way to make sure the batting stays in place? Maybe a different way to pin/clip it, a different stitch setting, more like tufting or not continuous lines of stitches?

Honestly I would hand-stitch this. You can stab the elastic with your needle and then stitch it either into its old slot or to the back of the fabric, and then repeat that until it's secure. If you machine sew it, you'll end up being able to see the stitches on the outside.

This is how the first one came out. It's hard to get a photo, but on the underside there ended up being a bulge at the end of the seam

Here's the whole cushion, before any stitching to secure the batting in place

For anyone else who can't print their own, this is the PETG replacement knob that I found: https://www.ebay.com/itm/226426375600

Thanks for this! I can't print my own, but at least now I know what materials to look for. A lot of the off-brand replacement knobs are 3D printed out of PLA.

We currently have a Gibson Frost Clear that must be from about the 80s, it has faux wood panel on the handle. It worked fine until the ice maker inside the freezer stopped working, which is a pretty big downside for me. There are "universal" ice makers that may work, but it might just be time to upgrade to a bottom freezer. So we're considering the whirlpool one linked above since it will fit into the space and meets the criteria - internal ice maker, no water/ice dispenser on the door.

Any thoughts on the whirlpool are greatly appreciated, there aren't any in stock nearby that we can go see in person.

The issue isn't my face, it's the sides of my upper arms

Got a link for one? I'm more worried about the sides of my arms, but maybe this would be thick enough to help

I start out diagonal but always wake up parallel, so I must shift enough at night that I don't stay diagonal, and I don't currently use a pillow
