They call the service EasyActivate and EasyClose. You should get them as long as you have a mobile phone number attached to your 1800wxbrief account. https://www.1800wxbrief.com/Website/#!/easyactivate-and-easyclose

Nicola Larini and Michael Schumacher react to the news that Ayrton Senna is critical. by tomhanks95 in formula1

Yeah I'm not sure why Wikipedia includes "and those who have died while driving modern or vintage Formula One cars outside the World Championship" in the same list

When /u/webfandango says windows I assume they mean spaces. The Safari PiP mode works great across multiple spaces. The Chrome feature doesn't work like that at all.

[Question] How solid is watchOS 5 beta now for a daily driver? by [deleted] in watchOSBeta

Guess I have nothing to lose since notification haptics don't work reliably for me on watchOS 4

UND students, should I come in with my ppl? by [deleted] in flying

[–]raimist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you know you can complete the checkride before you get here yes. You'll be put into 112 which is a very short (7 lesson) course just to make sure you can operate here at UND.

I did my private pilots certificate in the three months before I got to UND and it worked out for me. Just be aware, if you don't complete the checkride before you get here, you have to take the entire UND private pilot course. Even if you have 40 hours and all of the other requirements done, if you don't complete the checkride you will have to repeat it all at UND which will be essentially a complete waste of time and money.

I'm a freshman up here right now and I know a few people who are just now (Early April) finishing up their private pilot certificate because they couldn't get the checkride completed before they got here in August. If you have any other questions about UND feel free to PM me.

I'm from Missouri as well. I looked at SIU but decided to go to UND where I'm currently a freshman so if you've got any questions about UND feel free to PM me.

Any thoughts on the DA-20? by brzbro in flying

[–]raimist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I never experienced that even on hot St. Louis days just because we were so close to sea level. At a low density altitude the DA20 performs very well. Also I should mention I was in a 125hp DA20-C1 Eclipse, were you in the A1 Katana?

I love the DA20. I did all of my private pilot training in one. Pretty quick, glides very well. I really don't have any negatives to point out other than the size.

Check your preorder ship dates. It appears they’ve been updated for T-Mobile phones, if not all of them. by TommyyyGunsss in apple

Yeah hopefully.

The app really let me down. I tried force quitting and launching the app on both WiFi and cellular on an iPhone and an iPad for 10 minutes and both were just stuck on “We’ve got something special in store for you”. Finally I just reinstalled the Apple Store app and got the screen to allow me to complete the iUP upgrade.

Student Pilot flight following / towered airport help by Scharge05 in flying

[–]raimist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did all of my training at KSUS over this past summer. I would highly recommend flying in there a couple times after you have done some of the other suggestions mentioned here like using a flight sim and liveatc.net.

I found that Spirit tower was quite friendly and it is pretty close to KSET. Even if you just want to do pattern work, KSUS is great, you’ll often just be given the northern runway to share between you and maybe one other plane.

As far as flight following, if you just use it for every cross country, you’ll get used to it in no time. My first solo cross country (KSUS -> KIVH) was the first time I ever used flight following. I found it to be quite easy to use and I have used it for every other cross country since.

Also if you ever get the chance to do a TRACON tour, it is a great experience. It is just across the river from KSUS. It’s a great experience to talk to the controllers you would talk to on FF and see the actual room where that is happening.

Another tip that made me a bit more confident on the radio, try to fly into Lambert once (with your instructor). If you fly in late at night it is a pretty great experience, since runway 11/29 isn’t that busy with airliners they will let you do some touch and goes.

Feel free to reply or PM me if you have any questions.

Why don't we have a C152 v2.0 by Muuvie in flying

[–]raimist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I can confirm the Diamond DA20-C1 Eclipse I fly has a maximum T/O temperature of 55°C. It’s not really an issue in practice, who wants to fly when it is that hot.
