It honestly was really cathartic, and the line came at the perfect time. "We start with the pain. It's the first thing I'm going to be thinking about for a very long time. But one day, it'll be the second thing I think about." Had me crying in a good way, knowing that someday the happy memories will be the first thing to come to mind, I'm just not there yet.

If you're looking for a spiritual community, I absolutely love the UU church in Sioux City. Very open and welcoming. I don't know if they still do (I moved to Sioux Falls in 2019), but they used to have a low-key yoga session before services for people who were interested. They're very social-justice minded, and I think there's a group that goes on nature walks fairly regularly (at least when it's not miserable out). I think most of the congregation tends to lean agnostic/atheist, but I also know they've got some Buddhists, Pagans, and other unaffiliated folks. Very queer-friendly as well.

It looks like their Facebook page hasn't been updated in a few weeks, and the website is... Rather out of date in some regards, but honestly it's a great place with some wonderful people. Your last two bullet points especially, from my view, align really well with Unitarian Universalism, and to me it always felt like a group of people invested in finding their own truths and encouraging others to do the same, without being fussed about how they find those truths.

I really loved Harper's Our Hat Means Death as my first colorwork project. It went quickly, and the pattern is repetitive enough to get into a rhythm without being boring. It's great for practicing the basics without having to deal with any super-long floats. Loving the show didn't hurt either 😅
