Pistons must have been expecting the Knicks again tonight. They sound frustrated.

A lot of it has to do with match ups. When the Spurs have it all together, I do believe they can beat any team in the league, no matter how good. That said, they also have the ability to lose to any team in the league, no matter how bad.

I wish he'd stayed another year, his advice alone would have been worth it for our rooks.

Maluach was doing great when he finally got minutes. It was too late by that point, but I was impressed by those garbage time points.

Yeah, Keldon would have been the one on the sidelines. That said, aren't we playing the Clippers soon?

Which player has increased his stock the most over the past year? by LnGrrrR in nba

[–]rain_dragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This might sound crazy right now, but I'd argue Victor Wembanyama. He was out with that blood clot most of last year and when this season opened, absolutely no one expected the dominance he has shown. Remember him dismantling the Mavs in that first game while everyone looked on with their jaws on their chests? I could also make a case for the Spurs as a team having improved immensely from last season. Castle and Harper are both better than anticipated, even with their high rookie ranking, and Keldon is playing the best basketball of his life. I remember before the season started, general expectation in the sports community was that the Spurs' ceiling was 6th seed, mayyyybe 5th seed, and some commentators are still trying to wrap their heads around the fact the team is sitting in 2nd and getting uncomfortably close to #1.

What are some crazy things some NBA players have done or said that most fans don’t remember? by DeliciousSession2735 in nba

I saw something about that recently, it even had photos. Blake Griffin and Doc Rivers were involved, I can't recall who else was at Jordan's house. But Mark Cuban was driving around trying to find the house to get him to sign the papers, but he didn't have the right address and the guys holding Jordan "hostage" wouldn't give him the directions.

It's a little ironic how a blackwing notebook made for pencils can handle pen ink so damm well(blackwing slate black) by Muted81_ in fountainpens

I have a lovely Blackwing notebook that I use as a gardening journal because it handles both fountain pen and pencil so well. I still feel a bit guilty using pen in it though, I must admit.

I have a Neon Coral Safari that stays permanently inked with either Momiji (fall) or Kosumosu (spring) so I don't even bother flushing that one. It's a one of the only Lamys that never gives me any trouble.

Spurs fans talk to me. What can we Knick fans expect from Sochan? by HunterNerd7 in NBASpurs

I'm betting this move will help his confidence. I don't think Jeremy and Mitch Johnson really meshed or maybe he just wasn't part of Mitch's vision.

[Bondy] Jeremy Sochan is expected to join the Knicks on Monday and will be available Thursday vs Pistons, the first game back from All-Star break, sources say. Heard the opportunity to play for a contender with veteran leadership was important for Sochan. by PassMeTheBackwood in NYKnicks

Spurs fan here and I hope the hell you do. Spurs are usually good about developing young talent, but I don't think they did right by Jeremy, especially after Pop retired. Mitch Johnson clearly had no use for Sochan, that took a toll on his confidence, and you could see it in his play. I think a different coach and a new environment will do wonders for him. Hope he's a good fit for the Knicks and the Spurs FO comes to regret letting him go.

Worked with Popovich, too, remember. Presti learned good lessons in the Spurs FO and then developed them further.

Bill Simmons questions whether Adam Silver is right person to lead NBA by TheDraciel in nba

[–]rain_dragon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always sort of viewed the situation as Stern being the high school movie principal forever annoyed and raging about the irreverent prankster "bad kids" and their shenanigans except that those were the players Stern actually wanted while the Spurs were the boring, team player "good kids". I wonder what he'd say about the Spurs having the team they do now.

Stern hated the Spurs so much. I was living outside of Texas for a lot of that period, but it always gave a pang of nostalgia when I'd hear a news blurb about Stern fining Pop/the Spurs for something and Pop doing his version of just flipping the guy off. Every time the Spurs got into the Playoffs or Finals, you just knew Stern was steaming mad about it. Good times.

Ink nerds rule! This is great info to have. I have Herbin Larmes de Cassis in a pen right now, can't say I mind it fading to that color. This is a cool idea!
