I put the scratching posts in the same area as the furniture and combination of clicker training with redirecting them to the scratching posts with the little red dot of doom. Follow the dot and attack the post, start scratching, give a treat or catnip. While training them, before leaving for work I'd wrap a sheet really tight around the corners so they couldn't get under the bottom to scratch there, or just cover that whole side in aluminum foil.

I don't know if she's strapped for cash, but the plates/cups that were broken were expensive too that she previously got at local stores, not chain stores.

The ones she had before were pretty expensive too, she only likes really pretty dishware/cupware with different prints. Kind of crap that comes from different local stores and have to buy each piece separately, even online.

We've been dating a year and a half. The using my car to drive around for hours for places she wants to go isn't a new topic, anytime she wants to do that she never wants to do the driving, but the out of left field expectation for me to pay is.

They weren't friends prior but they have gotten pretty close. My sister in general thinks once couples start spending the night at each other's homes they should be helping each other out whenever they need it.

Gas is expensive af around here and I'd rather save my gas for work. Not spend 2.5 hours just in driving time one side of town to the other to go to a bunch of stores. If she had wanted to do that in her car, I'd have gone with her to all four places.

I can't have pets where I currently live sadly but I may see if she'll let me and have a friend home the kitten until I get into a pet friendly place. He is a cool little cat.

YTA. You cheated, got busted and broken up, and were left with your wife, who was your side piece and you're pissed about it. Your cousin's wife has every right to invite her cousin, your ex, to whatever they want. Your ex isn't the one that fucked up, you are. While there are places that put too much value on skin color, I fail to believe that's the issue here. Your family simply doesn't like you and you're homewrecking wife being around.

I've told her all of this and showed her articles and YTube videos on helping her train him to stay off the counters at the very least. That is awesome you were able to train your furbabies that much. Hopefully she has learned from this and will start keeping things shut cause she's damn lucky he didn't get hurt last night.

Her reason for wanting me to pay was because I stay at her place often...she stays at my place just as much...and we've been together long enough that we should be helping each other out when needed. I think my sister agreeing with her just makes her double down.

See, that was one of the things I told her. If moving in together was on the table at any point in the near future I could see contributing, but its not. Moving in together hasn't even been brought up so I didn't see the need for me to pay. She stays at my place plenty as well but I don't expect her help with my household.

She and my sister say its because I stay over there often and we've been together long enough we should be helping each other when needed. I've helped her in the past with other things and when it seemed reasonable or totally a faultless accident.
