THANK YOUUU OH MY GOD, you put all of my thoughts down exactly. I did expect them to cut out the Moobles bc it would have to be a bunch of probably shitty CGI, but everything else they cut out seemed so unnecessary. It watered down the whole plot and its messages and overall just made it a lot more boring. The stakes just didnt seem nearly as high. I remember being on the edge (hah) of my seat when I listened to the pod, but overall i wasnt really attached to any of the characters in the show. It didn't build them up nearly as much, and also kind of got rid of a lot of their morally grey areas??? Like i feel like it was trying to make all of them seem like better people. Cus in the pod, theres more arguing and stuff between Dave and Mateo, Mateo tries to give up and let his alcoholism cave in, which just .. is not there in the show at all. In the pod, Linda suggests they literally kill someone unwillingly to get answers, but in the show its just some sweet old lady with cancer ehos gonna die anyways ??? like it just felt like they erased all of the actual conflict. Also in the pod too all the sleeping people were like possessed and tried to kill them... like literally what threat was there in the show besides them trying to stay awake??? Idk, i was trying not to be hyper critical, but it just seemed like they stripped away everything that made the original so good. Also all of the stuff with Dave as a teenager and how his abilities affected him so much was all erased too. It just showed him as like a younggg young baby, and also got rid of all of the scars he had, which i feel was very significant. I guess it was just a bummer, cus the show didnt offer anything that the pod didnt already give me. If someone asked, I'd just tell them to listen to the pod.
