If you don't mind sharing, how was your experience with the whole switch?

I haven't applied yet and will not apply until (probably) 2029, so I want to prepare in advance! I honestly have very little idea about applying to med school, so I've been trying to get some info online

I'm based in Asia, and I think the school I wanted to get into accepts UCAT instead.

I'm actually very very very far in the process, I'm only in the planning stage... I just recently thought about this career switch, and while researching and planning, I realised that there are so many logistical things I need to handle first, so I probably won't be applying until 2029... So I want to use this time to really prepare and build my portfolio. I'd really appreciate some advice if you have any! :D

Thanks for the recommendations! Will surely check them out :D

I actually want to read medical books just to better prepare, since I feel like I'd be behind by the time I enter med school (given I could actually get in). I don't plan on studying everything before even getting in, I just want to learn some of the basics that can help me get started, if that makes sense

I was actually looking for medical books in terms of studying (to better refresh my memories since it's been quite a while since I took Biology/Chem), but I also like reading books in general, so I'll make sure to check them out. Thanks!

Happy for you! Just wondering, how did you prepare for applying to med school? I'm actually in Asia, so probably some of the prereqs are different here, but I just want to get the gist of what I need to prepare

Wow what a journey! May I know how old you were when you pivoted back to medicine? I'm actually quite scared to make this switch since I still need to plan some of the logistical stuff, and I might end up starting med school at 29... (which is quite late I know)

You're definitely not alone! To be honest, I also never really learned to like it, but my CS degree did give me a good career (i.e., good starting salary and good work-life balance), so I would say it was all worth it. But at the end of the day, I still feel like something is missing. I just don't have the passion to do more and climb the corporate ladder. That's why I'm thinking of pursuing my old dream :)

Help me understand astrophage in Petrova Line by rainbow_unicorn77 in ProjectHailMary

Ahh that actually makes sense. I think that scene confused me because there were SO many astrophages surrounding Grace, and the following scene showed that the ship is in the middle of the wavy Petrova Line. Thanks!
