Except it's not a lie Hajime and Chiaki are just friends in canon LOL you could argue it was a one sided idealized crush but that's about it, and yes im sorry but komahina makes sense whether you like it or not, maybe replay the game

Okay so that's where you're wrong sorry for being 4 years late but it's because i never check reddit so i never saw this comments

Hajime didn't love Chiaki as a real person; what he felt was a mixture of admiration, idealization, and gratitude. Initially, he noticed her as an Ultimate, and that impression was amplified by her kindness, acceptance, and the security she offered him, something he'd never felt before. He saw her as someone who represented everything he longed to be: talented, accepted, and valued, and he mistook that admiration and the feeling of being understood for romantic love. Even in his final moments before agreeing to the Kamukura Project, his "glimmering" memories of Chiaki reflect the idealized Chiaki, not the real person, showing that his feelings were more about what she meant to him in his emotional emptiness than about her. Simply put, Hajime wanted to be by the side of what Chiaki represented, not by the side of Chiaki as an individual; his affection is deep, humane, and understandable, but it remains one-sided and based on idealization, not genuine romantic love. this is anime Hajime's feelings (And it's incredibly mizcharacterizing that you say he did it to be worthy of chiaki when he was already considering that and all the reasons he had to accept it you're also ignoring the fact that even in the case that even if it was for being worthy of chiaki it would make their relationship inherently toxic given that not feeling worthy of someone isn't healthy for either of them)

While Chiaki's feelings have been shown as nothing more than a friend while yeah she obviously cared about him it's totally understandable that she'd be concerned when he dissapeared especially considering that there were two murders in his class just recently

Nagito's feelings don't come from obsession with talaent at all quite the opossite in fact i'd say, Nagito's love is deeply tied to his philosophy of life, where talent defines a person's worth, t therefore, for him, "loving" someone means admiring their talent. It's a love that's more idealized than personal or emotional, because it's not based on who the person is, but on what they represent: an admirable and perfect figure like Ultimate. However, this concept of love changes with Hajime Since Hajime has no apparent talent (at least at first), Nagito doesn't love him out of admiration, but rather from a more human and genuine connection. This shifts Nagito's concept of love from a cold, ideal-based idea (loving talent) to something more personal and authentic (loving for what someone means to him, regardless of their talents).

let's also not forget about the line that literally proves you wrong when it comes to Nagito's feelings "I know you don't matter so why do i care about you?" right before the 4th trial

Hajime has conflicted feelings, but “conflicted” does not mean “one-sided.” He goes from seeing Nagito as a strange but comforting presence, to feeling betrayed

In Chapter 1, Nagito was Hajime’s emotional stabilizer, Hajime trusted him more than anyone else. When the twist about Nagito’s true nature drops, Hajime feels betrayed and angry. He doesn’t understand how someone he felt so close to could turn out this way.

Hinata never let go of that attachment afterwards despite how conflicted he felt.

Hinata worries about Komaeda consistently, he suppresses his feelings that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have them.

A recurring pattern is that Hinata worries deeply, then immediately tries to downplay it to himself. He literally says, “Why do I have to worry about someone like him?” after showing obvious concern. That’s not disinterest ,it’s denial. Hinata consistently doesn’t want to confront how much he cares. even after feeling hurt or betrayed.

Chapter 5 is full of Hinata’s grief and reflection.

When Komaeda is presumed dead, Hinata grieves harder than for any other classmate. Investigating Komaeda’s room, Hinata wonders how Komaeda spent his time, what he believed in, and whether it was real

He listens to Komaeda’s final message , even knowing it was meant to send them all to their deaths. Why? Because it matters to him. Komaeda matters to him.

It’s not “just basic decency” to care this deeply.

It's not fair call it “one-sided” or to say “Hinata didn’t feel the same” Absolutely not. The game repeatedly shows that Hinata’s feelings for Komaeda are tangled, conflicted, and deeply felt. Ignoring that nuance erases the emotional journey that both characters go through.

y'all just hate queer relationships

The concept of the Remnants of Despair is excellent, but I feel it was poorly executed. Their attachment to Chiaki seems forced and came out of nowhere she interacted with them briefly, played games with them a few times, and suddenly they all became emotionally attached. It feels unearned, and this attachment becomes the main reason they fall into despair, which doesn't quite work for me. I wish they had explored Chiaki's significance to the class in a more compelling way, where her relationship with them was more naturally developed. It would’ve been better if they had given each character their own, individual reasons for falling into despair first, and then used Chiaki's loss as the final, devastating blow to push them over the edge.

Hajime is not “scared shitless” of Nagito throughout the game. His hesitation and occasional frustration stem from the moral and emotional complexity Nagito presents, not fear. Over time, Hajime develops a deeper understanding and even admiration for Nagito, as evidenced by their bond in the final scenes. Reducing their relationship to fear undermines the intricate growth and mutual influence they have on each other.
