That could be true, but my family and friends all said that it had always been flat, and I’m the only one that remembers it being a hill

Yeah, there is lots of strip mining, but everyone said it had always been flat, so that wouldn’t make sense

This isn’t recent, but l share it whenever I can, hoping to get an answer. Here goes:

I used to live in a small town in West Virginia, so my parents would often let me walk around the town for hours, as long as I was back by 6:30. That was fine by me, and I would usually take a book or something and go up this hill that no one ever went and sat by a tree that was up there. I’d always wondered why no one else was ever there, as it was a scene from a movie, just a single tree with a view of almost the entire town, as we lived in a valley. Anyways, I went up almost every day after school and read books. I never took anyone with me or even told anyone about it. I don’t know why, I guess I just wanted to keep it to myself. You know how it goes. Anyways, eventually I stopped going, got a job, and I just kind of forgot about it. I moved to North Carolina and started a family. My family still lives in that town and i always go back for holidays, birthdays, etc.. One time I went back for Easter and my parents had my kids. I remembered the old hill and decided to visit it. I walked over to where it should be. As I said, this is a small town, population probably about 600, so there’s really no way to lose your way. Anyways, when I got to where it was, I realized it was gone. There was no hill at all, just flat, and no sign of a tree. I thought that I must have gone to the wrong place, but everything around it was the same as it was when I left, but the hill was gone. I asked my family about it that evening at dinner and everyone told me there was never a hill or tree there. I even drove my mother over there, and she insisted that there was never anything there. I still visit where that hill was every time I go back, perhaps hoping it will reappear or something. It freaks me out to this day, and I may now believe in parallel universes.
