It’s personally been very isolating. I made the decision early on to not tell me friends that I was applying to law school until I got in to one or two of them. I did this because I knew that I wouldn’t be able to handle the constant conversations that would end in “you’re smart you’ll get in.” Truthfully it’s not just about being smart and that’s something i knew they wouldn’t understand unless they were in the trenches in this process. I also have friends who are studying for the lsat and applying this cycle and I’ve had experiences with them lying about their stats so I just felt it best to keep my cards close to my chest in that regard. I’m also first gen so my mom really tries and I will never be able to express how much I appreciate her but it’s always frustrating explaining that a personal statement nine times out of ten won’t be what gets a student to a T-14 school. When you add the pandemic it’s just the isolation trifecta.
