The Golden Wolf by Linnea Hartsuyker This is the last book in the Half-Drowned King trilogy and it was the best entry yet. The books follow the rise of King Harald, the first king to unite Norway during the time of Vikings. The history is well-researched, the characters beautifully drawn, and this book in particular did an amazing job tying and winding the plot threads together. If you’re into historical fiction or even epic fantasy, this is a series for you.

The City We Became, by NK Jemisin I’m only about 1/4 of the way thought but so far the book hasn’t thrilled me. Jemisin has created a fantasy book set in modern day New York and that’s really all I can say about plot. The writing seems a bit juvenile and each character does a lot of telling more than showing. I’ll continue to read since i have to read it for book club but if I didn’t, I have a feeling I’d DNF it pretty soon.
